Thoughts on a few Yankees?
Here's just a few good prospects that are having hot starts in the Yankees system. Thoughts on some of them?
Abraham Almonte OF (A- ball): .308/.357/.474 3HR, 15RBI, 6-9 SB (He's 18 years old and this is his first year in full season ball.)
Justin Snyder 2B (A- ball): .377/.443/.551 1HR, 11RBI 9 errors (22 years old; Hit .335/..459/.477 with Staten Island SS ball last year after being drafted)
Jesus Montero C (A- ball) .359/.383/.526 2HR, 15RBI, 7 2B
Austin Romine C (A- ball) .377/.393/.472 0HR, 6RBI, 5 2B
Ryan Pope SP (A+ ball): 1-2, 1.89 ERA, 19IP, 17H, 5BB, 17K 1.00 GO/AO
Zach McAllister SP (A- ball): 1-1, 1.50ERA, 18IP, 13H, 3BB, 17K 3.22 GO/AO
Dellin Betances SP (A- ball): 3-0, 2.66ERA, 20.1IP, 13H, 15BB, 28K
Jairo Heredia SP (A- ball); 2-0, 3.48ERA, 20.2IP, 19H, 7BB, 22K 1.17 GO/AO

Love Montero and Romine.
Montero prob ends up at 1st base. But hes got scary power for an 18 year old.
When will then be now? Soon.

My take on the others
I love Almonte. He’s not very tall (5’9”) but has pretty solid power for his size. He also has good plate discipline and great speed, though he does get caught stealing a little too often for somebody as fast as he is.
Snyder’s numbers are impressive, but in context of age and league, less so. I don’t consider him to be much of a prospect.
Pope was a small college prospect who really impressed the Yankee scouts (and others) with his mechanics. The numbers are impressive so far, but I’m not sure his stuff is good enough to make him more than a back of the rotation guy.
McAllister is a groundball machine who has posted some nice strikeout and walk numbers. The fastball is mostly low 90’s, but it evidently has enough movement to get hitters to put it on the ground. The secondary offerings are nothing special, but his slider is probably his best at the moment.
Betances has great projection and impressive stuff, but he’s had control problems so far (though he’s been very tough to hit, and is piling up the strikeouts). It’s evident that he’s fairly raw mechanically, but with his size and stuff, the ceiling is still sky high.
Heredia is intriguing because he is only 18, and is holding his own in full season ball. His fastball is in the low-90’s with good control, his curve has plus potential, and the changeup is improving.
It’s impressive that all these prospects (with the exception of Pope) are on the same stacked Charleston squad. It’s no wonder the Riverdogs are 15-3 on the season.

guess we know now
where the big league club accidently mailed their bats to :P
Snyder is one of those guilty until proven innocent prospect like Dustin Pedroia / David Eckstien. those two are the good /better cases of course… so far he’s a combination of Pedroia and Alfonso Soriano, unfortunately it’s Pedroia’s size with Soriano’s glove.

How about Sublett?
He’s ahead of Snyder.
I’m also a big fan of Baby Hughes.

Why do I keep seeing people put Low A
For montero, almonte, McAllsiter, Betances, and heredia? These guys are at Charleston and am I mistaken or is that High A? or A+?
