Travis Snider to AA
Just saw that Travis Snider got promoted to AA after 17 games in Hi-A. This is a bit of a surprise since he wasn't just killing Hi-A (at least in terms of BB/K). However, this is not totally unexpected as some folks thought he would start the year in AA but the Jays chose to send him to Hi-A instead. My guess is that the Jays wanted him to stay in warm weather for the first few weeks since New Hampshire is probably not a great place to play baseball in early April. That said, it is interesting to me how these major league teams coddle their top prospects...After all, Snider will eventually have to play in bad weather in April...
Anyways, here's a link to Snider's Hi-A stats...discuss...

The plan
was Double-A to begin with, but they wanted him in the better weather because he had an elbow issue, which has calmed down now. He’s hitting well.
I will be waiting...24601.

re:
I may be just getting more conservative as I get older but there seems to be a lot of unnecessary promotions these days that aren’t needed or deserved really. I understand what the plan was, but I don’t think he should of been on it to begin with and he hasn’t shown he is more advanced so far in his High A time.

re:
Power numbers were good but he struck out alot and didnt hit quite as well as someone that talented should have. I agree this is a little along the lines of rushing him…

Re:
Yep. I definitely think the strikeouts have to be a bit of a concern at this point…

Is it really necessary to announce this?
I’m a Jays fan, but I don’t think too many people care about this news.

Farnsworth: Start the ship, Leela. Let's just steal the damn radar dish and get back to our own time.
Fry: But- But won't that change history?
Farnsworth: Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa! Let's get the hell out of here already! Screw history!
Farnsworth: You mustn't interfere with the past! Don't do anything that affects anything. Unless it turns out you were supposed to do it. In which case, for the love of God don't not do it!
Fry: Got it.
Farnsworth: If for example you were to kill your grandfather, you'd cease to exist.
Fry: (gasps) But existing is basically all I do.

re:
I tend to find midseason promotions fairly interesting. It’s always a decent topic to see if a certain player is being rushed – or so dominant that they deserve better competition. In the past, many top prospects have had diaries discussing their promotions – so yeah I think this is relevant…

Yes
I am pretty sure nobody that comes to a minor league baseball site cares when a top 10 prospect gets called up to AA.

Feels like he's being rushed to me
What is he, 20?
They already have Matt Stairs and Adam Lind ahead of him.
I’d kinda like to see the guy dominate the FSL (which he was not doing) before moving up the ladder.
