Excellent news

Can't wait to see what he's gonna do

Marcello on Tim Lincecum's 2008: "Yeah, he only pitched 180 innings last year, who knows if he can handle 200?!?!??"

Called up the day before I'm going to Durham...

Couldn't Aybar have waited another day to get hurt? Yeesh....

brandon erbe

is erbe back to being the stud prospect he was after 2006? 13-1 strike out/walk ratio (in 11 innings) is nice....

aside from the ratio, the simple lack of BBs -- after 62 in 119 innings last season -- must be encouraging. I don't think he ever lost his stuff last year, just his command, as he still had plenty of Ks.

the O's have to be encouraged.

Rasmus BABIP is .250 right now

so he's really really unlucky right now.

Comp

Early sample size warning, of course, applies (stats from firstinning.com):

Rasmus: 205/250/308 3/10/45 BB/K/AB .250 BABIP, 3% LD
McCutchen: 200/333/429 7/5/35 BB/K/AB .179 BABIP, 10% LD

If anyone is "unlucky," it's McCutchen, not the latest man crush, Rasmus.

Actually, I'm impressed with McCutchen's start, especially his power and patience, although I must add that his problem with RHP is bothersome. The good thing is that he's only K'd 3 times in 26 AB vs. RHP despite his awful 115/258/192 line against them.

then my rants from last year on Gomez become great

Rasmus is working on hitting the ball the otherway, that's why he's slumping.

Praise Jesus!

and dont forget Justin Snyder, who's only hitting .516/.568/.803 in the early going.
