Opening Day is finally here!! Forget fixing the subprime crisis and re-ordering the regulatory agencies, let's declare Opening Day a federal holiday already!! :-)

No Kidding

I actually had to lie to people to stay home and watch games. Society should be ashamed of itself for putting me in that position.

Just sent the same note to my friend

There are at least 6 to 7 teams in each division that can accomodate opening day without too much of a risk. Those 6-7 teams in the AL and the 6-7 in the NL should be home for the first 2 weeks of the season.

Now I know the argument is that it is not fair to the other teams to make them have to start every season on the road but guess what, it is also not fair to have to call up some AA guy to make a spot start because you have 5 double headers in the last month of the season because that was the only chance to make up the games from opening week. Worse yet - the only chance to make up the games is when you are in the other teams home park and you have to be the "home team" in an away park.

What would possess anyone to make Toronto and New York the opening day game? Toronto still has snow that has to melt from getting blasted all winter and New York on 3/31? That is a crap shoot too. You look forward to this day only to be disappointed by mother nature and the brains behind the schedule.

My opening day rant is over - thank you.

Tom Glavine

So glad to see him back in Atlanta. Good outing tonight, everyone thinks he is done because of how he ended last year, but with the Braves talented lineup he could post 15+ wins if he is in the top 5 in quality starts like last year.

great makeup, filthy stuff, and perhaps most important for a closer, solid opening day facial hair.
