Manny Parra
What does everyone think about Parra's spring thus far? Will he get a rotation spot for the Brewers? His numbers have been absolutely sick:
2-0, 0.64 ERA,15/2 K/BB in 14 innings
His numbers last year were also very impressive:
AA/AAA
10-4, 2.45 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, almost 9K/9
His career minor league WHIP is 1.25 and he has averaged almost a K/inning. Is it just me, or should the Brewers take the numbers as a sign and give this kid a shot in the rotation this year?
I have not seen him pitch live, so I don't know much about his arsenal, but his peripherals are very very strong.

Dude
Shut the hell up, I haven't had my auction yet. I don't want people seeing this.

His fastball sits about 93 mph... about the same as Gallardo, although he doesn't get as many whiffs on it. His curveball and changeup are above average, but he hasn't had too much success with the splitter. I think he can be as good as Gallardo, but Gallardo does seem to have the better command.
numbers game
Unfortunately, I think what will end up happening (although as I type this there is still the Capuano elbow situation, which might clear this up a smidge) is that because Manny has options left, he'll start the year in AAA. They only pitcher out of Capuano, Parra, Vargas, Bush and Villanueva (the 5 vying for the final 2 spots) that does NOT have options is Vargas - and ironically he is having a great Spring as well. Unfortunately, Melvin waited a bit too long in not dealing him, as it seems there will be no movement, and Vargas will probably start out at the #5. That leaves Bush, Parra and Villanueva for the #4 spot.
We'll see Parra up sooner rather than later, however. He deserves his shot.
re: numbers game
Gallardo won't be ready to start the season, so I believe there are 3 spots now. I read Gallardo should be back mid April, so maybe those 3 starts determine who goes.
Given the Brewers have a legit shot at the playoffs this year, I hope they don't play the "options" game. Parra at worst needs to be on their team somewhere, right now he would obviously make them better being in the rotation though.
To be fair I have Manny Parra in two fantasy leagues so I am biased.
SP or RP initially?
Is there a chance that he might be a reliever early on? Gallardo did some time in the pen' before finally solidifying his spot in the rotation.
