too much
ok...look through past diaries and you'll see i've supported the right of fantasy posters to ask questions freely on this site. i am a two league dynasty team owner and found this site myself while trying to get up to see on evaluating minor league players. well, if evaluating can be reading what other people believe about someone instead of seeing them myself.
but, in my opinion, there's a world of difference between asking intelligent people (mostly) about the futures of all these players and posting your draft for people to evaluate.
drb had an interesting reason to do so...never played before...big time prospect nut...deep knowledge of his own team. i think the community was interested to see what he did for that reason. but what followed was a litany of diaries on the "rate my team" topic. to me, really...that's a yahoo sports level forum. but it could be done here...in one diary. but people are so concerned that nobody will look deep into a diary that each person has to have their own.
well...put it in one (and i believe the fantasy trades one could be done the same way) or don't put it up. your fantasy roster isn't about minor league ball. it's just not. it's not about it because you drafted stephen drew or jay bruce or joba chamberlain. it's about you showing the community how smart (or in most of the diaries i've read here) how average or below, you drafted.
i'm not trying to flame. i'm trying to say if you're talking about fantasy baseball on this site, the right to which i defend completely, make it about minor league ball, or recently promoted prospects.

What more
It's not as simple as "if you don't like it, don't click on it", because a) threads like the FDLS mechanics thread get buried (these kinds of diaries are what make this site stand out), and b) enough people that come here for minor league ball grow weary and just stop checking/posting.
Note that I almost posted my revised top-50 from November this weekend (modified to include your comments), but did not do so because of the glut of "rate my team" diaries.
To be a bit more constructive
that's what i'm saying
make it about the prospects here and it's on topic and we can read and comment and disagree and show love.
Apologies . . .
no worries
good luck in your new time suck of minor league baseball. we all had lives once, too.

This happens every year
- Be patient. It lasts about 6 weeks. If you have a priceless diary I'm sure you can wait a couple weeks so it doesn't get buried in the debris.
- It's OK to have a little different slant on things for a short time. Many of the people who critique on this blog are very knowledgeable and it's fun to read something different.
- I object to the term the "community". Nice, cozy word till you start telling people that they, their ideas or their topics don't fit in the "community".

Suggestion
Spring training tends to be a bit of a slow time for prospect watchers because most of the prospects have been sent to minor league camps where we can't read boxscores or get any reports. It's a big fantasy time so that's what people are interested in right now.
I still say, if people have something better to talk about, start your own diary.
Oh, the irony

I guess it gets to everyone after a while. (I find it pretty damn annoying myself.) Is it time to resurrect the weekly fantasy dump that everyone thought was such a crappy idea?
a slight difference...
second, i don't have a problem with fantasy posts, as it says in my response to you. if they're about prospects or guys that have been for some time and are now getting their shot, e.g. ryan braun/john danks, etc.. the issue i had here was posts that weren't about prospects. they were about "rate my fantasy team". it's different...or it is to me. i've never said anything about people asking to have their minor league draft rated...i even posted in those threads. guys want to know if they did their homework, reading what myriad people have to say on these guys. whether or not you outsmarted your fellow drafters by getting troy percival in the 21st round has no bearing on this site's content.
that's it. maybe that's all the same in some people's book. i see a difference.
