OT: Draft done - feedback please

I play in an AL-only 5x5 roto league with almost unlimited keepers (40-man rosters, and salary cap based on an online game, but unless you have the Yankees, you don't push that cap).  Categories are: AVG,OBP,HR,SB,RP and the usual 5 for pitchers.

I traded 2009 picks for 2008 picks and drafted 14 extra players, so I have some cuts to make before the season begins.  We can draft anyone who has played AA or higher ever, but after the draft, players can only be picked up if they play in the bigs.  FA's such as Scott Linebrink and Alexei Ramirez were draft-eligible.  Players who come over in trade go to the team which had the players traded away.

Please comment on my draft picks, and which guys you'd think are easy cuts.  I don't really have team needs for 2008, per se, although my only saves guy is K-Rod, and I always want more SP.  Not that I'm going to win going away, but I should contend, and have a balanced lineup and pitching.

12 Team AL Only
I think it's a 12 team AL only, so it actually looks pretty solid to me with good depth - I'd guess top 3 or 4 if it were in my league.

Yeah
It's 12-team AL-only, and 3-4 doesn't sound unrealistic to me, either.  I traded Jeter from a team which finished 3rd last year (getting edged out from #2 slot in last couple weeks, dagnabit!)  But I also added some stuff, as I had Andrew Miller and got several players as my share of the M-Cab deal (such as Carmona, Willis, and the #1 which became Quentin).

Inf
You have a lot of talent in your middle infield. Maybe moving one + a bat in the OF to get a true power bat that you lack.

I really like Kubel for this year and think Butler will be a stud. Lowrie was a very good pickup IMO.

Seriously...
I really would like feedback on which guys people think I should keep or cut.. I have to reduce roster size by 14 by the start of the season.  I can hide injured players on the DL.

Scratches Head
Not sure I understand what you have to do, but I don't see any names on the draftee list who should bump off players on your active roster.  I also don't see any draftees who really stand out as long term keepers.  I think you could put the draftee names in a hat, draw out 14, dump them, and end up with as good a list as any.

Keep 12 of the 26 draftees
My first thought is why are you trading future draft picks for current ones since it seems like your team is SO built for the future.  It sure looks weak to me for 2008, and I would have been trying to compile 2009 picks myself.

That being said, I would keep all of your pre-draft roster, and my choice for your 12 keepers among your 26 draftees are as follows:
Wheeler, EdRamirez, Quentin, Casilla, Lowrie, Bowden, Callaspo, Botts, Mason, Lamb, Whelan, and Penn.
But I wouldn't shed any tears over not keeping the last four or five of these either.

future
Yes, I have a good future ahead.  I traded for the picks mostly to help a guy out who had some stuff come up and couldn't prep for the draft.

The bottom line is really that I got Lowrie and Bowden and some options on some other potential dead weight in exchange for my picks next year.  I can live with that.  In an OBP league, Lowrie should be pretty valuable!  I think getting the 6th pick in this year's draft wasn't too bad... both Rays' pitchers, Austin Jackson, Milton Bradley were all available too... someone good was going to drop to me.

Not that it really matters for who to keep, but I'm not sure why people are so down on my chances of getting into the money this year with this squad.  Using the BP Fantasy product (driven by PECOTA projections), my top 25 players come out to $320 in value for a $260 league, which - as noted - isn't going to run away with the league, but should be solid.  I think that BP is a bit pessimistic on some of my pitchers too.  But even if not, I will be able to pick up free agents who can help in WHIP/ERA and thus help more than the projections they have for my existing pitchers, even in a deep league like this.
