Around SBN: Chan Sung Jung Wins Thriller Over Dustin Poirier

Upcoming

We are still buried in book shipping stuff today but we are getting a handle on things and I can resume regular posting on Monday.

One thing I was going to do was go back and look at my old Top 50 lists starting in 1998, but I remembered today that I already did that back in '05. Here is the review of the 1998 list I wrote three years ago. Some of the commentary would change now but you can still see the list and check how I did. I wrote up the '99 list back then as well. So I'll start with the 2000 list and do '00, '01, and '02. It's too soon to make a real judgment on lists after that.

Anyway, tentative schedule for this week:

Monday: Not a Rookie: Hunter Pence
Tuesday: Not a Rookie: Yovani Gallardo
Wednesday: Top Prospects of 2000
Thursday: Not a Rookie: Billy Butler
Friday: Top Prospects of 2001
Saturday: Not a Rookie: Jarrod Saltalamacchia

My radio show starts on XM 175 this Friday at noon eastern. I will also be making an announcement about the newsletter tomorrow. And I'll start my weekly articles for Rotowire this week, too.

UPDATE 10:00 PM: I lost a cap tonight and will have to go to the dentist tomorrow. Hopefully it can be replaced easily and a root canal won't be necessary. Blogging may be delayed again depending on tooth/pain ratio.

Good luck with the dentist John
I had one fall out just before X-mas and luckily for me did not include a root canal.

those '98 and '99 lists
they're fascinating to read through, even just taking a few seconds for each player. you see the list go "injuries," "injuries," "control problems," "bad plate discipline" and boy, what a shame--all that unfulfilled potential.

then you read the name "mike darr" or "dernell stenson" and it gives the whole exercise new meaning. RIP.

root canals
Aren't so bad if the Nerve is dead I've had one with and one where the nerve wasn't yet the second was a bugger.

Hindsight
is always 20/20.  Got a chuckle from #7 on the '98 list review:

"Carl Pavano, Grade A-: Overcame injury problems, a good pitcher."

I'm proud to have seen #756
