Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

OT: Coldplay

Sorry if this is taking a good thing too far, but I wanted to post some video links for Coldplay this morning so John could check them out.  Unfortunately, my work computer has youtube.com blocked.

The first video is extraordinary, more for a couple of amazing dancers than for the music, but it gives you a nice sample of Coldplay music and a visual of the group too:

The Hardest Part

Next are live versions of 3 of my favorite Coldplay songs:

Fix You starts out kind of slow and meandering, but has that killer chorus at the end.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQT_e_lHIrU

The Scientist has a nice chord progression and interesting lyrics.

I remember Yellow because at the concert I went to, they released a bunch of yellow balloons from the rafters for a different visual effect.

Again, sorry for the intrusion.  Promise I won't post any more of these except as a response in one of John's music diaries.

oh...
i'm sorry... i wasn't serious
it's a quote from The 40-Year Old Virgin. i thought it was common, so I didn't bother to explain it, my bad.

I Saw 40 YO Virgin
But I wasn't paying too close of attention.  I missed that one.

There was a
whole scene that went on for like 5 minutes of "You know how you're gay..." jokes.  You must have been fast asleeep...

Probably....
or else I was kind of in and out of the room.  I didn't see it in the theater.....DVD at home.

It's a pretty
funny scene, you should go back and watch it.  I think the DVD has some additional "you know how..." material I believe.

wasn't that
also in Knocked Up? Or am I just really tired this morning.
Marcello on Tim Lincecum's 2008: "Yeah, he only pitched 180 innings last year, who knows if he can handle 200?!?!??"

subject
LOL, I can't hear Cold Play talked about without thinking about that scene.

Is it?
Is it really bad to be gay as long as you're happy?  :)  Didn't Christmas carolers everywhere give tacit approval to cross-dressing when they sang, "Don we now our gay apparel."?

by sharksrog on Mar 2, 2008 6:39 PM EST up reply actions

Well, you know how I know you're gay?
Because you gave me a reach-around after you mounted me.

(yeah, that's the best one of 'em all)

"...and the only things I've found better than listening to Vin Scully are listening to Keith Jackson and uncut cocaine." (bleedjaxblue)

by drjayphd on Feb 29, 2008 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

That's not gay
that's just common courtesy

Fix You
While the chorus is good, the annoying emo crap for the first 90 seconds of the song is not worth it.

Speed of Sound
Don't Panic
Til Kingdom Come

are my favorites from them.

Sparks
Used in the Wedding Crashers, out of place in a movie like that, but excellent regardless.
One day, Elijah Dukes will be President of the United States.

Til Kingdom Come
Yes, I like that one a lot too.  I was going to post a video of that one, but I couldn't think of the title last night.

by DrBGiantsfan on Feb 29, 2008 11:03 AM EST up reply actions

Exactly my three favorites. Good work.
Though I'd order them

Don't Panic

Speed of Sound
Kingdom Come

Best Songs...
  1. Warning Sign (from "A Rush of Blood to the Head")
  2. Shiver (from "Parachutes")
  3. The Scientist (from "A Rush of Blood to the Head")
  4. Trouble (from "Parachutes")
  5. Sparks (from "Parachutes")
  6. Amsterdam (from "A Rush of Blood to the Head")
  7. Square One (from "X&Y")
  8. Talk (from "X&Y")
  9. Daylight (from "A Rush of Blood to the Head")
  10. Politik (from "A Rush of Blood to the Head")
This is why X&Y ended up disappointing me so badly...I wanted to like it, I really did, but the whole thing just sounds like they were straining to make something that wouldn't upset people. The first album (although they'd released earlier material) sounds so unforced, and "Rush" was a classic the moment it was released. Here's hoping the last album was just a hiccup.
