Why doesn't it get any respect as a good baseball movie?
So with the start of Spring Training comes my annual viewing of For Love of the Game. I absolutely love this movie. The emotion that's portrayed, the battle between the pitcher and the batter. The old guy getting one last hoorah. I love it. It's not funny like Major League , and it doesn't have the story line of Field of Dreams or The Natural, but to me...it captures the spirit of the game and the battles within the game remarkably well. I think because it has the whole relationship subplot with Kelly Preston in it, it loses some cred among baseball people, but it's the one movie I HAVE to watch when baseball fires up again every year. Curious what your thoughts are. Oh... Vin Scully is awesome in it too.
