Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

What would you do?

Brandon Wood B+ 1985
Neil Walker B 1985
Reid Brignac B+ 1986

I own Neil Walker and have the opportunity to trade him for Wood or Brignac I am excited about this deal. I need a SS prospect, but don't know who to take. My league only counts offense stats. Homeruns and hits are the biggest point getters.

Who would you take and why, or would anyone keep Walker?

If you need a SS prospect
you have to take Briggy; I don't think wood will stick at SS.  But Wood is the best prospect in the bunch.

Brignac
Like Locke said, you need a SS, Briggy is a no brainer here.  It seems that Wood is going to play 3B with the Angels.  Although, Wood is the best prospect of them all.

not necessarily
if your league doesn't count Ks against you then Wood might be ok, but I think that Wood could very easily be the worst of the 3, however you look at it...he has shown no ability to demonstrate any semblance of plate discipline and there is no reason to assume he will get better in the majors

he could easily be the right-handed russell branyan, his ceiling might be higher than the other two, but his chance at just plain never being anything is also higher, he is NOT a safe pick by any means

Chuck Norris
I'd keep Walker all things being equal, but if you really need the shortstop then roll with Brignac.

Well
this is odd, because I have all 3 of these guys.  I dont care about neil walker at all and have him to thrown in a bigger deal if one comes along.  Wood's upside is larger in my opinion than Brignac.  But saying that, Brignac is a legit SS.  I actually think Wood has a chance to get some ab's at SS this year with the weak crop the angels have. So, I take Wood and his monster power and hope he gets a shot at some PT this year.
