Not a rookie - Asdrubal Cabrera
Since he kind of burst back onto the prospect scene last year, there's not as much info out there as for most promising young guys.

on the Hughes thing. What else can be said about him that we haven't heard already? Maybe I am just Hughed Out, I don't know. But after a year plus of Hughes propaganda I don't find reading about him enjoyable anymore.

Best and Worst of my rookie lists - why?
i have found your retrospective on your rookie lists very interesting - why not take the lists from 8-12 years ago and add up the win shares of the top 50 - see which list was best - which list was worst and what have you learned.  It seems to me from a review of the lists that you might come to the conclusion - there is no such thing as a pitching prospect

Josh Fields
Will get a lot of at-bats in a solid line up and great park to hit in. I would be eager to see your evaluation because I think a lot of projections are pessimistic.

suggestions
not a rookie - curtis granderson

as far as new ideas, how about a 10-15-20 year look at how a system has drafted/developed/produced talent?  i know that's a huge topic, but i'm sure there are probably a number of good topic-types in there.

What about something on Geovany Soto?
Is this for real? Has there ever been anybody quite like this if it is? Or, for that matter, if it isn't?

How About
A projected "injury wire" for baseball in 2008?

Or, a projected ERA and AVG for both leagues.

ROY, MVP, Cy Young, Manager of the Year, division, league, and world series champions.

Prospect busts who turn things around...e.g., Carlos Pena, Brandon Phillips, etc...why they become reach a higher level of play...how long it takes for some players to "blossom."

league effect
I think that a lot of hitting prospects who played in hitters' league were overhyped and didn't meet the expectations. How about making a search into the league effects.

by wskeleton on Feb 18, 2008 10:32 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

maybe one called Bloodlines- Drews, Weavers,Uptons
I think that would be fun, JD, Stephen and the other one (I think he was a pitcher.

Chris Iannetta

Adam Lind?
I made some Not A Rookie suggestions the first time you opened the floor for comments...but this is one that just occurred to me.  I don't know if you had planned to cover Lind, but he strikes me as someone who has been totally forgotten.

Failed Prospects
Ruben Rivera
Jackson Melian
Hensley Muellens

Everyone likes Yankee failure, right?

Seriously, I'd love to see you look back on any or all of them.

Not just Yankee failures, but a collection of high profile busts.  Busts like Chin-Feng Chen or Chad Hermansen, not busts like Ryan Anderson who failed because of injuries, nor busts like Drew Henson or Rick Ankiel who I lump into the "obvious anomaly" category.

I'm very curious to see something about prospects who were very highly rated that the entire prospecting community was wrong about in retrospect.  There might be some commonality that can we can add to our evaluation tools.

I just put on my Member's Only Jacket, my removable hood and put a hefty bag around Fido here, and we went for it!

Wrong in retrospect?
Can I place a pre-order on Andy Marte yet?

I'd like to see some
"Spring Training Battles" posts: situations where a prospect (say, Kevin Frandsen) is going toe-to-toe with a vet (say, Ray Durham). Who's going to win? Who OUGHT to win?
