2008 BA Prospect Handbook

Just got my copy in the mail.

Love the new additions they made to the book like:

2008 College and High School Top 100 Draft Prospects

Last Years top 30 prospects per team with their current status (i.e. out of baseball, traded, etc...)

Quick little chart that lists the source of a teams talent on theor top 30 list (trades, drafts, etc...)

Excellent book as always from the guys at BA

Has anyone else picked it up yet?

I thumbed through it

in the bookstore, but didn't break down and buy it.

I'm going to see how long I can succeed in fantasy sports without ever paying a nickel for content (unless you count the $130 Sportsline league fee)

Actually, for several yewars I had to buy one magazine ("the bible" - it determined player positions), and while I don't have to buy it anymore, I still do. But that's it! Not another dime. I was in the league's World Series five years in a row, and we're a pretty serious keeper league with minor league rsoter spots as well. Plenty of good free info out there. (Like here)

Can't wait for BP to come out on monday. Then I think i'm going to get the prospect book from here. I bought the scout.com prospect book today and it's okay. They hype some guys too much and they underrated Rasmus extremely.

My wife was out today so I called her and asked her to stop by the bookstore and get the handbook (say it with me honey, Baseball America Prospect Handbook) for me. She comes home, gives me the bag and....it is the BA Almanac. Argh!

BA Handbook and BP

I'm too cheap to pay full price. I bought them as a package from Amazon and they are scheduled to be shipped the twenty-second.

a couple of things

They put in the draft for 2006 instead of 2007 but the team breakdowns were for 2007. That is a pretty big mistake. They used to have top prospect lists by position, not a rehash of their future top 100 but the top 10-30 players by position that I really used to like. If you subscribe to the magazine then it is a rehash of the same content in one convenient book. In my league all you really need is the annual top 100 issue but it makes for nice bathroom reading.
