C.C. declines Yanks offer?

Link Wow. So the teams in the running for C.C. are the Brewers (the frontrunners), the Giants (the darkhorse) and maybe the Angels. But remember, this is an unconfirmed rumor, so what do you think about it?

Guys... RELAX

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8916168/LIVE:-Tuesday-updates-from-winter-meetings

5:21 p.m. — Sources: No truth to CC rumor

There is no truth to reports that CC Sabathia turned down the Yankees, according to two sources with knowledge of the discussions.

It would make little sense for Sabathia to eliminate his highest bidder. It would also make little sense for the Yankees to pull out of the discussions when Sabathia is their principal free-agent target.

The Yankees remain in the mix for Sabathia, along with the Angels, Giants, Red Sox and possibly the Dodgers.

Maybe not

Yes it makes little sense, as media right now is making up various scenarios (Rosenthal included) to get heat on what has been a relatively slow day at the winter meetings minus the K-Rod signing. It is all about being the first, even if it means taking bad sources and running with them.

However you have to know Sabathia is doing everything he can not to sign with the Yanks, or he would have accepted the offer at this time. That is a given. He really wants to pitch on the west coast, and is doing his best to make that happen. I would not even be a bit surprised if the Giants win this bid, for $15-$20 mil less over the lifetime of the contract compared to what the Yanks will give. I am sure the players union would ‘love’ this to happen (yes that was a sarcastic statement)
