IMO best ever video game to come out on Jan 26!
For 39.99, 2K Sports will release MLB Front Office Manager. I will be in heaven when I can buy this. For PC, 360, and I think for some other systems, this game rocks. here's a video.
It even has Japan wars, where teams race to buy a japanese posted player!
MY MOMENT AWAITS ME, AND PERHAPS YOU!
The tube video link his here: I love this game sooo much!

Looks great
This game looks fantastic…Did you play the NFL head coach game from a couple of years ago. I had high hopes for it. It was ok but there was a lot of down time. Hopefully they have been able to make some improvements to make this game better. I think EA made the football game.

I stick with Madden
Do you think that I got ripped off when I bought Madden 09 (used) for Xbox360 for 54.00 about 45 days ago?
I’ve been wondering if I have for a long time.

Yeah
You got really ripped off. Let me guess, you bought it from gamestop or EB games huh?

2K Sports
I don’t put much faith that anything 2K Sports creates will be good. I hope to be surprised.
I've got a McPheever, and only JoJo Reyes can help me!

what
the dreamcast 2K games might have been the best games ever compared to the technology of the times and the features it had compared to others

2K sports
i have been playing NBA 2K9, and it is by far the best basketball game i have ever played. light years ahead of anything EA has ever put out.

if you want a great GM type sim, and you know your way around a computer
I recommend this

i havent used it in a while, but it was always great, and you can find roster patches and stuff to get the real MLB players.

I do like OOTP somewhat though
the draft lets you do 30 rounds, more than any other game
by Matt Rox on Dec 31, 2008 3:41 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
yea
OOTP is the only baseball simulation that has come close to fulfilling my desire to run a baseball orginization. Its definitely a very well done game and is a whole lot better than any other simulation i’ve tried including Baseball Mogul. It does a good job of replicating alot of the rules, decisions and difficulties of trying to run a baseball team. Definitely a very addicting game and there is always somethign to stay on top of. Its fun to have all the Minor league teams and all the players to deal with. The only issue i’ve found with the game is that when playing the CPU i can always trade 10 absolute scrub prospects for one stud and its too tempting for me to do that even when i dont like to.

You shouldn't be able to do that if the trade settings are done properly
by thejd44 on Dec 31, 2008 11:20 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Still
I’ve found OOTP far too easy to manipulate. When the CPU agrees to a trade, try asking for a few more prospects. The CPU will usually willingly throw-in any non-70+ prospect in the system, and if it doesn’t do it willingly, you can click “make it work now” and the CPU will ask for a 20/20 player.
It’s much too tempting to do.

I just hate that you can’t realistically sign young players through their option years to a contract like would be agreed to in real life.

So its the MLB version of Head Coach
Yeah, I thought that game would be awesome…Then I played it and it was the biggest piece of shit ever.

Head Coach
I have the new version on PS3 and it is so much better than the original. I hope this game is as great as it could be. Billy Beane was involved in the design, so it’ll be interesting.

baseball mogul rocks.
I grab a team in the early 90s and by the year 2020 i have at least 10 world series rings and a couple of hall of famers….

Beane
Beane said it was fantastic and very realistic. He said he wished he could have had it when he was younger.
I didn’t know he was a part of the design team, so he might be showing some bias.

From what I've read, it looks like Out of the Park, but it's a few years behind
Just today I finally purchased OOTP 9 and I’m eager to set up my fictional league. I never do “real” leagues because I’ve never found a roster patch that I didn’t find terribly lacking.

well you can use the real rosters
from the previous season, so if you dont mind replicating the 2008 season, you can basically simulate that out, and then pick up from the offseason if you want.

MVP Baseball 05
Still the greatest game ever, sorry. Not even close (although OOTP is real good). Me and my friend have embarked upon an epic quest to completely update all the rosters, using split stats, fielding metrics, and fangraphs for pitches and speeds. It’s actually coming along pretty well, each team generally takes 2-4 hours to make playable, I’d say. And making guys like Lincecum is always fun. If you’ve got some spare time, I highly recommend it.

I have 25 teams
like, half done except for a few. I usually don’t care about long relievers and back-up outfielders and the like….

Are you all forgetting about...
Bases Loaded on the Nintendo? Another case of SNTS on this board lol.

+2
Bases Loaded 2 that is. Bases Loaded 2 had the best pitching style I’ve ever seen in a video game. Depending on a guy’s “stuff” you could throw pretty much any kind of pitch you could think of. It also had a biorhythm feature, where your guys would get hot or go into slumps. Man I still miss that game.

Just hooked up the NES this weekend
Been playing Tecmo Super Bowl, but I think I’ll have to mix in some Bases Loaded 2 tomorrow after work.

Subject
I just came across this website this morning. http://www.nintendo8.com/genre/sports/ They have Tecmo Super Bowl on there, plus a bunch of other sports games for the NES. I used to use BUF myself. Can’t beat QB Bills throwing to Andre Reed. No Bases Loaded 2 though. They do have Baseball Stars on there. Too bad I can’t hook up a 2 button controller to my pc. Be much easier to play.
