Where would Duffy have landed on this list...
if he were a Dominican Mets prospect? If he were an A’s or Rangers farmhand? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

What exactly was the case for Conger there compared to the other guys?
Don’t get it … I’d like to hear a reason, nothing personal, just curiosity as to why people voted for him.
Going with Matt Moore again.

I guess people ignored that he’s not supposed to stay at catcher. List is getting ridiculous now…

LOL
Your complaining is what is really getting ridiculous. Do you expect prospects who are not among the top 100 to not have flaws? As we go further down the list to 200 we are going to have an increasing amount of prospects with holes in their games. That is what makes this list fun and different from BA, BP, and Sickels. We have to look past the flaws and figure out whose tools outweighs their holes. Afterall, these are the best prospects from 101 to 200 and not 1 to 50.

Well
My eyebrow was raised by his support, but I don’t think it is that crazy to put him in this range. He still has a pretty high power potential even if he moves off catcher. He’s certainly got the pedigree, and he has hit at every level. On the off chance he makes it as a catcher, he could be something special.
.303/.333/.517 from a 20 year old “catcher” in A+ is actually pretty good. He’s probably only marginally less likely to stick at catcher than Tyler Flowers, who was 2 years older at the same level.
I didn’t vote Conger, but I think he pretty underrated. Though it would be nice if he decided to stay healthy now and then.

interesting
I think if his supporters had made the points you made, and had made them consistently for a few polls, his selection wouldn’t have been so surprising. He kinda came from outta nowhere as far as balloting and the support was quiet. The silent majority. :) I hadn’t thought of putting him on yet and I wouldn’t have voted for him, but not that shocking.

Supporters
I think Conger was stuffed, not that he had that many supporters. He had a larger percentage of the vote early on and slowly was caught by the pack. But it doesn’t really matter in the big scheme. And he isn’t really out of place here, so I don’t care.

Eh
I wouldn’t say he’s hit that great. He was in a very hitter-friendly environment this year, and I’d guess his OPS+ was only around 105 or so. Plus he’s gotten injured twice. Plus his defense is a big question mark. I’d probably need to get to around #200 or #250 before considering him, but maybe that’s just me.

Just want to say
Thanks, guys for doing this list.
Also, Eric Hurley has been removed from the testers cycle. Any reason?

Probably just accidental
I’m not sure what happened there but he could have been accidentally ‘cut’ out when we fix the tester list. I will try to remember to add him back in when I do the list tonight. If I forget please remind me.

Jason Castro
He’s an above-average hitter, who is patient, and has a quick swing. His power potential is average, maybe a little above. Goldstein says he has a plus arm – I think it’s a tick above-average. He has some problems with his footwork, but is a good receiver, and is very athletic for a catcher. He also has the ability to steal a bag. Castro played in short season A, and the Hawaii winter league (really fall) combining for .296 BA .438 OBP .420 SLG% .858 OPS in 216 at-bats. Castro’s XBH% was only 30% but, that is not a bad number – just not great – and his on base numbers were great. He struck out 54 times compared to 38 walks. Those are just his pro numbers. He also played for Stanford during the College World Series, and came up in the clutch in a number of instances for them – that’s when I was sold on Castro.
I think those numbers, particularly the OBP are top 100 numbers, and I think he has clearly established himself as one of the best prospects from the 2008 draft, after being immediately looked at as an overdraft. I also do not think you can undervalue what a good catcher can add to his team, especially the Astros, who have lacked one who can hit for a long time.
For those of you asking about his ETA, "Watch," Acta said, "Castro could be ready for the majors by the end of the season." That is a quote from Nationals manager Manny Acta during the winter meetings.

Rohrbough v Duffy
Both lefties with good pitching size
Duffy is 19 months younger had a K/BB of 4 and dominated in Low A where Rohrbough put up decent numbers but nothing compared to Duffy. Sure he had a 30 inning stint at myrtle beach that looked kinda good but trying to grade him out based on that is useless.
I just don’t see the argument for Rohrbough over Duffy.
Accidentally not thedude925 anymore. I do hate this new name.

Poor analysis
Why just ignore what Rohrbough did last year, when he was completely healthy? He was even more dominant at roughly the same age Duffy was this year. He showed the same sick stuff this year when sound.
BA: Rohrbough has electrifying stuff with three above-average pitches at times, including the best fastball/curveball combination in the system. His fastball has good movement while residing at 92-94. When his power curve is sharp with nasty late break, it borders on being unhittable. He has a tremendous feel for pitching and mixes his offerings well.

Coghlan
Projects to have very good defense and speed from 2B along with good contact ability and OBP. Also, his XBH numbers suggest he could see a growth in power numbers as he grows older. He really should be on by now.
I have Matt Moore next.
