Ricky Nolasco
I was wondering what people think of Ricky Nolasco. Is he a bonafide front of the rotation starter? Or was his strong performance this year inhibited with poor peripherals? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I know he used to be a pretty solid prospect, maybe he finally reached his potential.

Somewhat FOR guy
He certainly has that potential but I think if he moved into a smaller ballpark he would see his HR rate go up some because of the amount of fly balls he allows. Still, he strikes out a lot of guys and walks hardly anyone. That is a recipe for a front of the rotation guy. He was a little lucky this year, but no matter how you slice it, last year he was a VERY good starter and given his history and stuff, he should be able to keep it up.

Love this guy
Nolasco does have the stuff to be a frontline starter. He had five double digit strikeout games and unreal control. The main question with any young arm is health, but if healthy I look for Nolasco to take another step forward in 2009.

an elite guy....
the real question is: can he sustain it? he was a top 5 guy last year……..tons of Ks…high K/per 9 and few walks……….you could sell high on him i guess. i think i’m going to keep him, though, and his $1 salary. when i saw him outduel brandon webb last year in miami i knew he was for real…..he’ll be the marlins’ no. 1 going into ‘09. what i like about him the most is that he has a HUGE heart…..even when he’s not on, he gets by on moxie..my kind of player…

He added a cut fastball
Adding a new pitch can do wonders for a guy with nice stuff

Nolasco should keep it up
Is it me or does he remind anyone of Zambrano with better control?
