Tommy Hanson in the AFL

Dude is pretty good. where does he rank among the top pitching prospects in the game? He gets overlooked quite a bit but has the stuff and performances that indicate he has front of the rotation potential. Fastball can get up there in the mid 90s. Plus curveball and solid changeup. Flyball rate is a little bit of a concern but something he should overcome. How does he compare with guys like Tillman, Holland, Davis, an the other 2nd tier of elite pitching prospects? Who does he remind you of currently pitching in the bigs?

John Maine
Which is why they should sell him high.
what is wrong with Maine?!
Am I reading this that since he compares to Maine, they should move him?
Is it realistic to think you can have a starting staff of all #1 aces? The Yankees have tried it for years, and it doesn’t work.
Talented role players who can produce at the ML level are not cancers to be removed from the system.
I hope I read your post incorrectly.
The braves were good when the built from within.
remember
bravesin07 is an idiot….with about the eye for talent that matt millen possesses…..don’t worry about anything he says….at all….except to make fun of/laugh at it….

"the eye for talent that Matt Millen posesses"
Dude… harsh…
A blind monkey has a better eye for talent than Matt Millen.

I'm harsh because I care
That, and everyone else in my family is a Lions fan…
I personally prefer the Panthers, so I enjoy poking fun at the Lions whenever I can.

Completely irrelevant
Johan Santana is also a flyball pitcher. Does that make him a good comp?
bob gibson
also a flyball pitcher….woo hoo! the braves have the next bob gibson in their system!

Bob Gibson would be a disappointment
I expect Tommy Hanson to win 1 Cy Young and 11 Tim Lincecums.

the braves
would be in the playoffs this year with a rotation of john maines…instead they had 40+ y/o pitchers “leading” their team, and their top young pitcher require surgery….

say what?
Jurrjens needs surgery? What?
The Braves would’ve made the playoffs if 3/5 of their starting rotation didn’t have season-ending injuries. You can say that’s because they’re old; I say it’s because they’re pitchers, and pitchers get hurt. Oh, and if their RF wasn’t one of the worst every-day players in the big leagues. And if….. well, there were a lot of flaws with the 2008 team.
i was talking about hudson
i should have said “younger”, as in “not yet 40”…..
the braves had huge injury issues in their entire pitching staff that i believe kept them from postseason even with frenchy hitting more like the “grease” character, and the offense from the other outfield spots being subpar as well….you have a full season from 4/5 of soriano, gonzalez, hudson, smoltz, and/or glavine, and i believe the team is right there for the wild card….

He's got #2 potential
The key will be his HR rate, as he’s clearly a FB pitcher. But if he can keep most of those balls in the yard, he’ll be okay.
Incidentally, this the reason he’d be such a great fit for SD. Their spacious ballpark would keep more of his FBs than basically anywhere else in baseball. I think he could be a staff ace there in the best case, but anywhere else, I don’t think he’ll be more than a #2.
Rather than create a new thread
Just wanted to mention that Desmond Jennings is back to playing again and has been added to an AFL taxi squad.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
