What happened to...?
I know there have to be people like me who didn't get a chance to follow the minor league season as well as they would have liked to for one reason or another and have questions about what happened to certain prospects. I figured there is a diverse community of people here who could pool their info on their favorite organizations to help answer the questions. Instead of having a bunch of seperate threads, this would be a good place to ask about a guy who had a down year or some sort of injury to see what people know.

Alan Horne
I was wondering if anyone had a scoop on what happened to Alan Horne. I see he had a pretty poor year and I know he started the year on the DL with a Bicep, but I did not hear what happened to him in the second half. Does anyone still believe in him? He used to be one of my favorite B prospects.

He had surgery
on his shoulder, and was battling injury all season.

Sean Rodriguez
He put up another monster minor league season. He struggled with contact in the majors, but he seemed to put some good wood on the ball when he did make contact. I only saw him play 3-4 games though. I was wondering if someone saw him more in the majors or minors and could shed some additional light on him.

sean
I thought sean had a very slow bat and long swing in his first stint this summer with the angels. I do know that he had some success in september though. I think he started feeling more comfortable at the plate.

Neil Walker
I know that Walker did ‘ok’ ARL, but overall he was terrible. What happened here? Obviously he’s not considered int he top 100 prospects anymore(but he was around 75 last year, right?). What were his biggest problems? Are they correctable?
thanks

Don't know much about Pirates prospects
But it really struck me as premature to move him off catcher when his bat wasn’t ready to perform anywhere else. His performance would have been a hell of a lot more acceptable from behind the plate, perhaps even encouraging. But he’s really going to have to hit to justify playing third, especially with Alvarez in the system (not that they could have foreseen Alvarez coming).

I think he moves to LF or is dealt and I agree it’s troubling. I made a deal for him in a sim league a few years back so have been watching him but he has steadily dropped through the prospect ranks rightly so. He did do something to his wrist (hamate bone?) so you could make excuses for him I suppose but bottom line is he hasn’t performed how they expected to date. Still only 23, switch hitter with power and has improved at 3B so there are some bright spots.

Walker at third
I heard an interview with the Indy Indian’s batting coach this summer, and not that it makes much difference if he keeps batting .220, but supposedly his defense at third base has come along really well. His bat obviously doesn’t play at the hot corner, but it sounds like his glove at least does.
There’s been some speculation (or maybe just wishful thinking) that Walker could get moved to 2B, where Shelby Ford and Brian Bixler would be his only internal competition once Freddy Sanchez moves. Personally, I think I’d take Ford there right now, but it’s certainly an option.
My guess is Walker improves some next year at AAA, gets some MLB time in 2010, and after bouncing back and forth between Indy and Pittsburgh for a couple years ends up falling into a utility role as a decent power pinch hitting option. Useful, but not what the Buccos were looking for with a first round pick.

Julio Teheran
I saw that he only pitched 15 innings on the season for Danville. He made 2 starts in June, 0 starts in July (was he injured) and 4 starts in August.
I’ve searched the web for info but found zilch, zippo, nada. Anyone have any info?
By the way, great idea!
I heard Tim Lincecum will win 1 Cy Young & 11 Tim Lincecums. Question is, how many Cole Hamels will he win?

Yeah
I don’t recall the specifics, but off the top of my head, I don’t think it was anything serious. The Braves were just being really cautious.
