New Blog: Backing the Pack for NC State Fans!

I Need Your Input

Everybody,

I am hoping you can help me out.  I'd like to create a good list of fan sites for each team.  I have such a list, but a lot of the sites on it are defunct, and I'd like to update.

I know the ones John frequents, but I'm betting that you have ones that he doesn't know about.

If you have a fan site that is devoted to a specific team that you respect and enjoy, please put a link to it in the replies.

Thanks!

JERI

Cardinals
Major league club:
http://www.vivaelbirdos.com/

Minor League stuff:
http://futureredbirds.com/

One thing that's nice is that they work well together, referencing each other and having some crossover bloggers.  In synch, so to speak.

cardinals
agreed, futureredbirds.com is the best cardinals minor league site out there.

Atlanta Braves
Braves Journal (http://www.bravesjournal.com)
Chop-N-Change (http://www.chop-n-change.com)
Talking Chop (http://www.talkingchop.com)
Rowland's Office (http://rowlandsoffice.typepad.com)
Braves & Birds (http://bravesandbirds.blogspot.com)

Sabernomics (not exactly a Braves blog; it's about the economics of baseball, but written by a Braves fan: http://www.sabernomics.com/)

by alexwithclass on Jan 3, 2008 10:32 AM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

+1
Braves Journal is excellent and constantly updated, and Sabernomics, while updated more sporadically, is a wonderful site for getting a different perspective on a lot of things baseball-related, as well as regular thoughts on the Braves.

I also read Chop-N-Change and Talking Chop from time to time. Can't really say about the others.

If you have to choose one, Braves Journal is clearly the best blog on the web for Braves content (daily game threads and recaps during the season, etc. as well as a decent community).

Re: Braves Journal and Chop-N-Change
In the interests of full disclosure, I should say that I'm a regular commenter at Braves Journal, and a contributor to Chop-N-Change.

I'd like to...
..add mine to the list.

Rain Delay: http://rain-delay.com

Currently on Hiatus, but will return before the end of the month. I usually take some of the winter off, just to recharge the batteries.

It's kinda a duel blog, as I talk about the Mariners a bit too. But much more Braves content, than Mariners.

Royals
I'm sure John knows this one, but:

www.royalboard.com

Has major and minor league forums.

Well
Most active forum is almost certainly Royals Corner at Scout.com:
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=281&f=2054#s=281&f=2054

Royals Review is active, particularly in-season, with huge game threads:

Royals blogs
Some of the better ones I've seen--

Royals Authority - http://mvn.com/mlb-royals/
Royals Retro (I highly recommend this) - http://royalsretro.blogspot.com/
Royal Reflections - http://royalreflections.blogspot.com/
The Royal Tower - http://royaltower.blogspot.com/

Royals Review
Huge thumbs up.  Great community.  Often funny.  Good analysis.  I think the best team specific baseball blog out there.

Rangers
Here are the must visits for Ranger fans, as far as I'm concerned:
  • Adam Morris's Lone Star Ball has a lively group of daily posters with animated discussion the norm.  http://www.lonestarball.com/
  • Every team should be lucky enough to have a Jamey Newberg.  He passionately covers the entire system and probably knows as much about Ranger prospects as anyone.  http://www.newbergreport.com/
  • Scott Lucas posts interesting analysis from time to time, and his blog features detailed minor league stats and a team depth chart.  http://rangers.scottlucas.com/
  • Mike Hindman blogs at mlb.com with in depth looks at minor leaguers.  He's currently ranking all the organization's top prospects, just finished up the starting pitchers.  http://rangersfarmreport.mlblogs.com/
  • CJ Wilson and Brandon McCarthy both post comments at Lone Star Ball occasionally, joining in the discussions.  Wilson also has a blog through mlb.com.  Not a fan site, per se, but always an interesting read.  http://cjwilson.mlblogs.com/

Also, Jason Cole's Lone Star Dugout http://rangers.scout.com/ goes in depth on a lot of Rangers prospects. It's a pay-site, but most worth it.

Lonestarball
isnt bad if you dont mind homosexuals and alot of OT.

But if you dig through the bs there is some good info there.

Also
I'd like to submit my own blog, Baseball Time in Arlington: http://mvn.com/mlb-rangers

I may not possess the experience or readership that Adam and Jamey have, but I'd like to think I provide some interesting insight.

Kudos to Nationals Farm Authority!!!
It is THE place to go to for news on the Nats minor leagues, perfect companion to this site.

The Federal Baseball site has changed writers last August, Capitol Punishment now has more statistical analyses, I put it 2nd to NFA.

You'll note that link is no longer to SFDugout.  Scout.com and SFDugout went separate ways over the summer, and that site (Scout.com) is now known as 'sfhardball.com'.  It doesn't have a regular contributor.

I have it on good authority that SFDugout is literally within days of returning, at (believe it or not) SFDugout.com.

College Baseball Blogs
I follow College Baseball.  Much less material out there on NCAA baseball than one might expect, but a few worth recommending:

Boyd's World is a gem.  It gives weekly updates of all team's RPI ratings after the season gets underway.

Rivals.com College Baseball has some decent articles and an active national discussion forum.

College Baseball Blog is a well maintained national clearinghouse for news and articles.

Baseball America's College Site is probably the best national coverage, but most of it is pay.
