Community MLB Player #11

Vlad puts up a resistance, but Grady gets a push at the end to come out on top, rounding out the top ten.  The way I would judge voting at this point, if the players on the poll were available in free agency right now, who would bring in the biggest contract?

Fantasy is not the focus of these polls. Overall play is the general thing to keep in mind when you value the player here. It's all about who you'd want to build a team around here in 2008 and for the next few years beyond it. Anyone that receives under 5% of the vote is subject to removal, with 2% being automatic.
If you vote "Other," please specify who you'd like to see on there.

Suggestion
Let's not go top 100 with this... either to 25 or 50 would be better.

Is it so horrible?

hmm..
I really thought that out of the players mentioned Beckett deserved to be on here.. Then I see he only has 6% of the votes, so I guess not.

Just because...
he isn't getting votes, doesn't mean he doesn't belong up there. This community has favorites. Guys like Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, Scott Kazmir... they are all overvalued here. Tell me, in what universe do you select Kazmir over Webb when contracts aren't involved?

That's why we are all armchair GMs and not the real thing. We all play favorites way too much.

Rollins
I guess I'm one of the few, and while it is likely that his career has peaked, the guy has a lways been a sparkplug atop the lineup, a vocal leader, and solid defensively.  I really think he's sufered a little backlash for winning the MVP, but if there's someone I want right now, on my team, he's first for me.  Followed by Vlad (on the downswing, thus 2nd), and then Upton and Fielder, who both need to do it again and play D.  I'm just not buying Mauer this early.

Seriously, Vlad, still?
You can make a good argument that he's the WORST of every option on the current poll to build a team around.

I ask again, considering that he is practically a DH at this point, how is Vlad even better than Howard or Ortiz?  I would say that he is much WORSE than both.

Joe Mauer in a walk over Vlad.

Easily
What is this, the star power poll?

Vlad's arm isnt good anymore, he has no speed, his power isnt anywhere near where it used to be, and his back is bad.

He shouldnt be in the top 25.

well
Are you just being a acehole, or do you really know something I don't about vlad.  He is a hall of famer and I wasnt aware that his arm was shot.  All he will do will put up close to .900 ops' the next 3 years.  I doubt they will move him off of right field until the guy cant even walk.  Now, I'm not saying he is a top ten, but there is something to getting a guy who is a future HOF'er, what seems to be a good teammate and can rake, as something to build a team around.

Logic
By your logic, Bonds should be ranked higher than Vlad.  Does anyone think Bonds couldn't manage a .900 OPS for the next 3 years?

Welp
Apparently you've rushed to post your smart ass comment and forgot to read the whole thing.  Vlad can play RF still and is not cancer in the room.  Thanks for your contribution of idiots on this site.

Guerrero is too old
He is probably top 30, but not 11.
