Giants & Rangers
Looks like the G-Men are letting Pete Happy go to Philly, which as a Giants fan I can't say that I am too disappointed, but I realize whatever we put there may very well be Sub-Pedro.
What are the options? Dallas McPherson?? Frandsen-but he has no pop right?
Just noticed the Rangers got Jason Jennings for pennies on the dollar, whereas Houston had to deal Hirsh, Taveras, and Purpura's severed head. It looks like the rotation could actually be slightly better this year, and how far off is Hurley??
How long will Broussard start at 1st?
Is Botts/Salty a better option come June??
Are they destined for another 75-80 win season?

the giants
Honestly, the latest rumor has Joe Crede going to the Giants. I am not opposed to Brandon Inge if Detroit pays a lot of his salary. And just wondering if anyone thinks Aramis Ramirez is available.

Don't say that, even Ingest.
I like Crede. I believe his offensive upside is higher than Feliz's, and his defense is pretty damn outstanding. Whether he'll meet that upside, and whether there's any reason whatsoever to believe he'll be healthier for us than he was for the Sox, that's the question. And more importantly, that's the question that makes me think he's not worth giving up anything for. If we were signing him as an FA, I'd be moderately optimistic, but he's not worth losing a perfectly useful player.

Substantial downgrade defensively
What are you smoking? Inge is a fantastic defensive player. I don't see how you can say you would be adamantly opposed to Inge, but you like Crede. Why would you want the guy coming off back surgery, who offensively isn't all that different from Inge?
I will agree that Crede has offensive upside higher than Feliz, but so does Inge.

rangers
Wash recently said that he doesn't plan to platoon Botts (who will be getting a look at 1B in ST) with Broussard. So basically, its Big Ben's job to lose. If I had to guess though, I'll bet we see some kind of platoon in the second month.
I'll say Salty's the better bet over Botts come june.
Afraid so. Might break .500 if their lucky

Giants 3B Options
There could be a trade for Crede in the works, if Crede proves to be healthy in spring training, but I believe Sabean has Frandsen and Ortmeier penciled in as the starters at 1B and 3B right now. They will start Durham at 2B and hope he does well enough to enable them to trade him at the deadline. Then either Frandsen will move to 2B or Velez will move up from AAA to play 2B. Schierholtz has worked out at 1B so he may be in the mix there too.
I personally don't want to see a trade made for anybody but a good young player who can man the position inexpensively for several years, so I can live with Frandsen and Ortmeier. Hopefully Lowry and Sanchez both get off to good starts making one of them attractive to a team that has a young 3B or 1B with upside to trade.

Kevin Correia
The ideal scenario, IMO, would be for those 5 to be rotation with Sanchez in Fresno. Lowry and Correia get out to strong starts with Sanchez rounding into form in Fresno. The Giants then turn whichever one has the most trade value at the deadline into a starting 3B or 1B.
My criteria for acquiring a player for either position would be:
- Is their contract controlled for at least 3-4 years, or would I be comfortable signing them to a 4-5 year contract?(with Crede's injury history, this would appear to disqualify him).
- Are they likely to be the best player for the position to be available in the next 2-3 years?
