Ruben Tejada

http://minors.baseball-reference.com/players.cgi?pid=33156

Young shortstop in the Mets system with some promising half-season stats.  Anyone know much about him as far as projectability and whatnot?  He seems to already know what to do with the strikezone (very nice BB/K) but does anyone think he might develop some power (he's only 5'11).  For that matter, does he look to stick to middle infield?

Granted, he has very little to project, with only a half season in low A.  But curious as to whether people have predictions about him. I know there was some talk about him in a diary in August. But that was half a year ago and thoughts change and with the reviews of various minor league systems, I've grown more curious. Plus it seems awfully slow around baseball chat circuits right now.

I see him as another Luis Castillo
and that's not because the real thing is on the Mets.  Tejada doesn't have much power, and he isn't that big.  He knows the strikezone well and can steal bases.

5'11
165 as a 17 year old means nothing. There are tons of guys who are around 6 feet who hit for power and he will put on weight as he matures. As for no power.... 3 homers 9 doubles 3 triples in 241 ab's doesn't show huge power yet but it also doesn't scream to me "no power" at age 17.... Cabrera at 17..... 251 ab's 12 doubles 2 triples 2 homers.
