Quick case for Poreda
Not sure if even I'm voting for him, but:
  • Touched 100 as a lefty
  • Reportedly improved immensely mechanically after signing
  • Great sinker
  • Good control with his fastball
  • 48/10 K/BB in rookie ball in 46 IP with a .191 BAA up in the mountains
  • Good size and downhill plane
On the other hand, his secondary pitches aren't there at all yet, and he's old for someone as raw as he is.  I'm a bit of a velocity whore, so if he really has upped the ante, he's probably somewhere in this range for me.
Vogt early, Vogt often.

Not necessarily a bad comp
If that's where you think he'll end up, then he's probably not worth a spot this high.  However, it seems like Poreda's control is significantly better than Thornton, who's pretty wild.

I've been waiting on him
But I think I like him as well as any of these options...

Beau Mills
I don't quite understand why he isn't being voted on.  I know Sickels is a little down on him, but he is highly ranked by others, and I think he's the best offensive player left.

+1
The Dodgers won't win a playoff series until the Cool-a-Coo returns.

TOWLES
Rowdy Hardy Fan Club member.

Justin Masterson
is my selection.

I'd vote Mulvey
before I vote Masterson.

Masterson strikes me as a bit more like the average #4 pitcher in his scouting report. Mulvey's seem a lot more praising, and there's no denying how incredibly quickly he's progressing through the Mets system.

Other
Rowell.

About time Latos got a tester, especially since Walden is already on.

I voted Fowler
but Rowell is good for me too

Fowler...
is next on my list.  Then, probably Kalish.

What's the story on him?
What organization does he belong to, Oakland? Will he be ready by opening day?

Woops
Thinking of Jose here. Jamie looks like a good GB lefty, should be useful.
