Our Long Natural Nightmare is Over
Now the half-dozen or so real people that were actually supporting Jordan Walden can resume their lives as contributing members of the Diebold audit team.

How much worse a prospect....
than Soto is Towles?

Honest question from a longtime reader and admitted non-expert.

by Transmission on Jan 24, 2008 10:37 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Well
The community seems to think Soto is better.   It's really a question of whether Soto's improvement was for real.  If he'd always performed like he did last year, Soto would have been an east top 20 prospect.  Towles still involves quite a bit of projection to get to where he's actually a top prospect, IMHO.

Quick Trigger On #63?
Calling it after only 163 votes? All the precincts can't be in can they? Are people tuning out or did the Walden gang hold Brick hostage to finally accomplish their curious goal?

To the Burgess stuf...er supporter you might want to slow it down a little. People might get suspicious.

Disappointed
It took 3 hours for the first ballot stuffing post to come up. I figured it would make its appearance within the first 20 minutes

seems to me
a full day of a poll being up is sufficient. i think the lack of votes is a sign of disinterest (we are getting pretty deep now into prospects) coupled with skepticism about whether the ballots are being stuffed.

I voted for Burgess
I fail to see why that would be considered a mistake.

My Mistake Then
Sorry, I didn't realize all the Burgess supporters all woke up and voted at the same time.

Nor am I trying to suggest it is a crime for all the Walden votes to all go to Burgess instead of being more evenly distributed.

Because that's a perfectly reasonable thing to happen and it was really wrong of me to even think of questioning such an occurrence in the first place.

Went a full day
I went a full day between polls, and the last poll was pushed out of the top 10.  I just figured there wouldn't be too much more voting if I let it go further.

Yeah, people had been double-voting for Walden at one point or another, but he wouldn't have fallen much further either way.  In the greater scheme of things, I don't think it's a big deal.

Makes Sense
I guess it makes sense to keep it moving at this point. Be nice to finish before spring training is over. As for the stuffing? There really doesn't seem to be a practical solution one way or the other does there?

Maybe, maybe not
Also, people need to not forget that this format leads to people changing their votes more frequently.  Someone really wants player A, but he's not on the poll, then he knows they probably can't win that poll and might vote for player B (their second or third choice) to keep player C (who they don't think deser ves to be here at all) from winning.

We'll see on this one though.  Seems like there might be shenanigans going on here.  Can always run off if need be.

not so fast
I think Burgess is without a doubt the most namesake on this list. With his great performance after being drafted, I could see why this might be a slam dunk and not stuffing.

ostriches
it's fairly obvious everyone prefers just to bury their head in the sand here and pretend like their own votes still matter. i'm still checking these for the comments -- see who voted for who, and sometimes why -- but i really resent that these choices are being presented as if they were the "community's" selection.
