Minor League Thread 9/7!

Hello everyone,

Indians (MLB) - lost to the Angels 3-2 in 10 innings; 1B Ryan Garko hit a top-of-the-9th leadoff solo shot off RHP Francisco Rodriguez to tie the game 2-2, but the Indians' bullpen couldn't hold it, as RHP Rafael Betancourt gave it up.  Like Westbrook, Betancourt couldn't contain Chone Figgins, who caused much havoc with his 3 hits in 4 ABs.

I personally thought that Betancourt/Martinez didn't go after Kendry Morales in the best manner; they got him to swing at a high fastball, making the count 1-2, I believe, but went away from it, going low and away twice with a fastball, before going low and in with a fastball, which he promptly hit down the RF line for the game-winner.

RHP Jake Westbrook, outside of not handling Figgins, which led to 2 R, did a pretty solid job, matching Lackey pretty well pitch-for-pitch, a nice bounceback from his poor outing against the White Sox last Sunday.

Martinez did have 2 hits for the Indians, though his ABs have been inconsistent of late.  Hafner has once again disappeared, as he's hitting a ton of weak groundballs again.  Sizemore hasn't done much lately either, though he did have an RBI single tonight, going the other way off John Lackey, who was denied his 17th win thanks to Garko's solo shot.

The Indians' AL Central lead is now down to 5 games, as Detroit beat slumping Seattle 6-1.

LHP C.C. Sabathia vs. RHP Ervin Santana at 9:05 P.M. EDT Saturday night.

RHP Bud Norris - 5.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K; 6 G/4 F (5.06 - the 22-YO, 6'0" 195 lb. 6th-Rd. 2006 pick out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a relatively solid outing, outside of the BB rate, especially considering it was just his second career High-A start.)
