Fautino De Los Santos

Does anyone know what kind of stuff this guy has?  His #'s are sure eye-popping.

I also found this filler ode to Fautino:

Fautino, Fautino, you are the bomb
You pitch fastballs with such aplomb
But what will happen when you get to AA?
Only an expert could possibly say.
You are one of the only hopes for the Sox's farm
Hence in south Chicago, there is much alarm.

From what I can find...
he's got good low to mid 90s heat with a good breaking pitch. His numbers certainly are hard to ignore. I picked him up a couple of months ago based on his numbers and the one BP's Future Shock writeup. But the jury is out, as far as I'm concerned, until some of the off-season lists come out, info on him is just hard to come by right now.

However, BP has had a couple of writeups about him, if you're a subscriber, just review the Future Shock columns.

BA also featured him for the Futures Game, I believe, and he was also written up in one of the ChiSox team reports earlier this year. Again, if you have a sub, just review the team report archive.

Throws a mid-90s fastball with an excellent slider, looked like a 70 pitch at the Futures Game. Like most young pitchers, needs to work on control and his third pitch. The White Sox development crew isn't very good at a lot of things, but one thing they've done very well is preach the value of a good changeup. If they don't rush him, he could be a very, very good pitcher.

+1
saw him here in Kannapolis earlier this year....he has hit and miss stuff. FB is TRULY mid-90's...not one of those "he can throw 95 guys". Game I saw his FB was SITTING 94-95 consistent.

timeline
A friend of mine works for the High A affiliate of the White Sox (Winston Salem Wart Hogs) and Fautino spent the last couple of weeks there.
He said his fastball resides in the low 90s, and breaking stuff comes in at 88/89.  Said that he is still raw but will be in the bigs by mid 2009.
He said he has the potential to be pretty filthy in when he arrives.
Come on Cubs, make it happen!
