Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Nick Hagadone

Hagadone had a disastrous first professional start, giving up 5 ER in 1.1 IP.  Since that outing, his line is:

23 IP, 8 H, 0.00 ERA, 32/7 K/BB

I had a chance to watch him pitch twice: once on Milb.tv and once live.  The game I saw him pitch, he topped out at 96 mph and displayed excellent control, a very good slider and a changeup which got better as his outing went on.

In his next outing, he reportedly hit 98 once and got up to 97 mph a couple of times.

Dylan's line

Hagadone
I liked him a lot coming into the draft. Just by looking at his results, he appears to be a frontline starting pitcher. And from what I hear from you guys about him topping out at 98, that backs up my point. I think he should have been a first rounder and is gonna be making a lot of people regret passing on him.

uhm, question.
he looks like a frontline starter because hes dominating with 3 IP per start in the NY penn league?

Hell, going along the same lines, Kris Johnson and Justin Masterson were totally dominant last year even down to their GB/FB ratios. I watched one of his Lowell starts on milb.tv and his slider is definitely an above average pitch but he's far from a given with regards to sticking in the rotation (let alone being a frontline starter)

it depends
id really like to see what his stuff looks like stretched out, as he looked much better out if the pen in college

took him
#34 overall in our mock draft because as you guys are mentioning, I thought he had the potential of becoming a good SP with at least three good pitches. at worst, i saw him becoming an impact late innings reliever or a closer.

It all depends on how he takes
to being a starting pitcher.

If they can build the stamina up and he keeps like 85% of his relieving stuff then he will be a solid starter. He still has yet to throw more then 3 innings in an outing but anytime you get a tall lefty with a great fastball its pretty exciting
