Scott Kazmir is Kickin' Ass

5 IP 7 K's so far today. He's got an ERA of like...2.00 since July.

He's K'd 48 guys in his past 43 IP, given up 0 HRs, and 40 hits in all this time.

Nice to see him getting stronger as the season moves on.

And WTF is wrong with Jeremy Bonderman?

How have I not reached 300 friggin characters yet?

finally the potential is getting results
Bet the Mets wished they had him today and Maine got rocked.

Yeah
I'm sure the Mets really hate having Maine.

Kazmir
I wonder if during the first half Kazmir was pitching more cautiously due to his arm issue at the end of '06, and wasn't cutting loose and just pitching. The results were the high pitch counts that were plaguing him for much of this year due to less confidence. Maybe he has that back now---I can say confidently that this is the real Kazmir. Good to see. D-Rays pitching in a couple of years should be a lot of fun to watch.

you have too many lefties
TB should trade mcgee or price or else they're going to be real susceptible to boston's RH heavy lineup.

while you're passing that on to matthew silverman, tell him that i hear aaron pat burrell would LOVE to play in tampa.

Moved on the rubber
I don't know if this is the full explanation, but in the middle of last year, the pitching coach moved him over to the opposite side of the rubber to try to get a better angle on hitters.  At the all-star break, they proclaimed that that experiment was done, and moved him back to the side where he usually pitched, and he's been dealing since then.

I don't think it's an injury thing though.  His velocity has been about the same all year (sitting 89-92, occasionally hitting 93 or 94, but never going near the 97 he used to touch regularly).

spot on - Haus
Kazmir started kicking in gear when he reverted back to the other side of the rubber.  He stated that his mechanics fell into place and he felt comfortable pitching where he never gave his mechanics a second thought.

I think over the next 5 starts, his velocity will increase a few MPH.  He is on a nice run.

he still needs work
such as cutting down on his pitch counts, and learning while k's are nice the rays would rather have 8 innings. I'm a big fan and I still think he is an ace if he puts it all together, he just isn't there yet in my opinion.

fucking bonderman
Bonderman and Maine are killing me right now.

by limozeen on Aug 9, 2007 7:05 PM EDT reply actions

bondo
he was killing me too. i benched him today, and he'll stay on the bench until he figures things out. he's been gawd-awful. then again, things could be worse--mike maroth has given up more runs in his last 24 IP than jeff weaver gave up in his first 24 IP. now that is a cold streak.
