Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Chris Lambert

is the player the Tigers will receive from the Cardinals for Mike Maroth.  Can anyone shed any light on him?  He's supposed to have good stuff and is a former 1st round pick but his numbers have been bad.  What kind of stuff does he have?  Does he project better as a starter or a reliever?

he hadnt pitched much before getting drafted.  he was a relative late convert to baseball.  i think he played hockey.  he was drafted because he threw in the mid 90's.  his fastball has gotten slower as he has moved up.  i am not sure why.  could be he has backed off to try to develop more control.  maybe the cards were having him throw the two seam fastball which tends to be a little slower.  at times he has been labeled a thrower instead of a pitcher.  maybe he can become a middle reliever, but i wouldnt bet on it.

hardball times says he was a victim of outward blowing winds last year.  http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/pitchers-who-weathered-the-wind

OK..
I guess he's OK, but his career really has hit the skid since Highlander

Well...
Yeah, he is another prospect bust...although he showed another glimpse of his potential in Mortal Kombat.

Lambert
Lambert is a Northeast pitcher(NH high school and Boston College) I am kinda suprised the Cards would give up on him so soon, he may be a late bloomer type. Not a bad take for Mike Maroth

Odds are against him...
ever being as valuable a pitcher as Mike Maroth.
