Brewers in 2010

C - Rottino with Salome on the horizon.
1b - Prince
2b - Weeks
3b - Braun
SS - Hardy
OF - LaPorta
OF - Hall
OF - Hart

P - Gallardo
P - Villanueva
P - Parra
P - Bush
P - Jeffries

CL - ?

The bullpen again will be a combo of Melvin's keen FA eye and young arms (Rogers, Sarfate, etc) from the farm system. Some prospects that might garner talent via trades are Gamel, Cain. I don't think Coco and Turnbow will be resigned as both will be near mid 30.

Sheets' constant health issues make him a vexing decision. I am betting the Brewers make an offer, but he leaves.

just a few thoughts, but good job
I doubt that Rottino will ever be able to be a starting catcher.  They'll probably need a FA catcher again at that point.

I'm betting on Sheets being resigned.  I think the Brewers realize that they may never be able to sign a player of his caliber on the free agent market.  It will all depend on how much money he wants, but I think they'll make it work.  The thing with Sheets is that while he may only give you 20 starts, he's never had any serious arm problems so he's still really, really good in those 20 starts.

I don't think Villanueva will be any better than a 4/5 starter.  Parra could be a decent #2, but I really can't see his shoulder holding up for more than a year or two as a starter.  He may not make it to 2010.  Suppan's contract runs through 2010, so unless they can dump his $12.5M/yr salary on someone then he'll be in the rotation.  They probably aren't going to pay him that much and put him in the bullpen.  The Brewers may have three first round/sandwich picks next year and I woudn't be surprised to see them take at least two, maybe three pitchers.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Alcides Escobar starting at SS in 2010 instead of Hardy.

Odd fact most people don't know:
Jeremey Jeffress' name is actually pronounced "Jeffers".

mostly agree
C: Salome/LuCroy(Salome will have 2 FULL seasons in 08 and 09 to get ready for the Show and LuCroy will be 25)
1B: Fielder
2B: Iribarren (hitting almost .310 in the Southern League, and a bit more power now too)
SS: Hardy (I think Escobar is a quality UTIL guy - not enough power to be everyday)
3B: Braun
LF: LaPorta
CF: Weeks (not crazy about another "project" out there, but he's faster than Hall methinks)
RF: Hall

SP: Sheets, Gallardo, Parra, Jeffress, Suppan
RP: Rogers, Hinton and 2 more guys who are in A ball now who make the leap)

I think Salome will be ready by 2010 if he doesn't have any more setbacks.

I think Weeks will get moved to the outfield and, like you, LaPorta will stick. The question for me is Hall or Hart. I think Hart wins out and Irabarren fills in at second.

I think Sheets gets resigned making the rotation:
Sheets, Gallardo, Parra, Bush, Villanueva.
Jeffress goes to the bullpen. Not much reasoning behind it except his fastball and slider are potentially really good.

Weeks
I'm not sure why Weeks is going to get moved to the outfield.  His fielding has improved a lot - really ever since mid-2006 he has been at least an average second baseman.

Response: Weeks
The thought is that the outfield would allow Weeks to concentrate more on hitting and his skill set, namely speed, would be put to better use in the outfield considering Irabarren as a replacement.

You are right that his defense has improved at second base but it still isn't that good and unless he can put up huge offensive numbers, he isn't going to be that valuable at second base.
