Jason Donald
May end up as the Phillies 3B in a couple of years.

.307/.398/.478 so far, mostly at high-A Clearwater.

also owned
greg's list is not particularly thorough.  hu, lowrie, donald, and valaika are all owned.  the others mentioned so far are not.

granted, lowrie is considered a 2B under our league rules, so these things happen.  donald and hu are owned by the same guy so i guess he forgot to look at that team when he made the list.

Escobar
Alcides Escobar is a choice left..and as stated I think Brian Bixler is a serious sleeper

I love Bixler as well
But is he going to play SS in the big leagues? Not to familiar with the Bucco's situation.

Angels
As an Angels fan I can tell you that Wood has enormous upside, but would probably not be available.  Also, the Angels might not use him as a SS in the majors.

Sean Rodriquez is nothing impressive to me.

What categories are you using and
when are you looking for the SS to reach the majors?  Without that knowledge, I like a few guys already mentioned - Hu, Tejeda, and Plouffe.  I like Plouffe and Hu as guys to be premoted in the next year or two, and Tejeda's the furthest away, but may have the most upside.

I still would consider Andrus
Baseball Prospectus still thinks he will breakout huge in 2 years and they thought he would put up numbers like he has this year.

He's gone..
read the list.

Jose Miguel Torres
haha, he will be legal in a few years
Babe Ruth and Travis Snider back to back!!!

If he's not gone
Asdrubal Cabrera is a no-brainer.

Also
Possibly Jeff Bianchi. He's been pretty bad this year, but he's been much, much better the past month or so. Obviously he is very talented as well.

Hu
has played really well of late.

Does the player have to play SS in the majors?
If that is a requirement, then I'm not sure that Cabrera or Hu are good selections.  Hu is likely to be moved to 2B unless Furcal is traded, and I don't know that anyone has figured out Cleveland's jumbled infield yet.

Furcal
Isn't Furcal only signed thru '08?

by cooper7d7 on Aug 23, 2007 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe..
Maybe it was only a 3 year deal.  For some reason, I was thinking 5.  But I could be wrong.

Sharlon Schoop
Might consider taking a flyer on him.  Very good fielder, improving offense, still fairly young.

BL
What about Brent Lillibridge (sp) who plays for Atlants triple a team?  His way is blocked by Renteria and maybe Escobar (Im a huge Braves fan and SS might not be his long term position, maybe even 2b if they move Kelly Johnson back to the OF when Andruw Jones leaves).

by BRiffle on Aug 24, 2007 1:40 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Opps
Sorry, I should have read your list instead of skimming it before post.  I just thought of someone though, what about Tony Abreu for the Dodgers?

by BRiffle on Aug 24, 2007 1:42 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Thanks
Thanks for all of the responses, and Wily Mo, thanks for the clarifications.  Sorry about the guys I missed when I was making my list. (some position eligibility issues as well)

I'm looking at fairly standard roto categories, and more long term as I have both Orlando and Asdrubal Cabrera in the system.

Some good food for thought.
