Cueto
I have just heard too much talk of Scherzer becoming a releiver eventually.  Furthermore, Cueto is younger and has peformed at a higher level.  I wouldnt be surprised if Cueto gets a September callup, he has fantastic stuff.

Also
It would be nice to see Bruce, Votto, Bailey in Reds' uniform as well in September.

Reds suck
You might see Votto in uniform, but he won't play. The Reds are still in the race.
Bruce wont get the call, he isnt on the 40 man. Same for Cueto.
Bailey needs to pitch again before he comes up. He is probably the only one you will see play in a Reds game this year.

THE REDS...
ARE NOT STILL IN THE RACE. MOVE ON AND HOPE FOR NEXT YEAR.

It was a joke. Kind of.
Its just sad that its a joke the Reds don't get because they just keep on going like they are in the race. You won't see any young guys playing at all outside of maybe Homer Bailey in September because the Reds are in it to win it.... just ask them.

Um
What race might that be?

There are 4 teams ahead of them in the Central and they're 9 1/2 games back with only 38 games to go.  If any of the top 3 teams play .500 ball from here, the Reds would have to win at a .658 rate just to tie the Cardinals.  That's 25-13 for you folks counting at home.  If the Cubs go .500, your Reds will have to post a 28-10 record.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.  :) It's a near mortal lock that the Reds won't be playing in October.  It's even worse if you're pinning your hopes on the wild card.  12 1/2 games and 11 teams separate you from San Diego.  Mahalo

Race
for a better draft pick?

I think some people's sarcasm meters need fixing
I read it as a joke myself - more as a jab at Cincy management than anything else.

They really should give Votto full-time PT.  He's earned it.  I can at least see the argument for keeping Bruce at AAA (given his limited AB's there).

Cueto Call?
Don't you think that the Reds demoting Cueto to Double-A to help the team make a playoff run could mean they want him to finish the year in the minors?

Scherzer
I think he still has some lingering injury issues, and once he is able to start a season at the normal time, he should dominate.  Even if he does move to relief, his stuff (when healthy) is on par with Lincecum's, and once he feels comfortable letting it all hang out again, he should rocket through the system.  Also, don't forget that Arizona has hitter's parks all the way up the ladder, so his stats may not necessarily look that great.  Finally, that whole two different eye colors thing is just intimidating 8)
