Hey folks. Now, we all know that John's very busy lately, and that means that we kind of have to pick up the slack while he clears his plate. On the other hand, I've really been hankering for some interesting content lately . . .so I said to myself, why not just make the content yourself?

We're now past the mid-point of the season, things are starting to settle into place. We're starting to get a sense for how far various prospects have risen/fallen this year, and obviously there's also been a significant amount of turnover with promotions to the major leagues. There's a whole new set of prospects who have come into prominence . . .and with this, obviously there are lots of comparisons to be made.

So, it seems like a good time to see some new Prospect Smackdowns. I'm planning on putting some together, done in the same sort of style that John would write them. I cannot pretend to have the experience, the contacts, or the polish that John has when it comes to this sort of thing, but I think it'll make for some interesting discussion about various prospects, some of whom may not have really received a lot of time in the spotlight. In addition, I think of this as sort of being my way of trying to thank John for all of the great content that he's posted here for the past few years, almost always on a very regular schedule and always free of charge. It's a tribute to what he does rather than a replacement while he's working on the things that pay the bills.

I have a few ideas in my head for some good Smackdowns, but I'd like to solicit some thoughts as to what everybody else would like to see. Let's hear 'em.
