Dan Meyers 1st major league start

While he may not have the resume of a Tim Lincecum, or Phillup Hughes, Dan Meyer is making his 1st major league start tonight for the A's against the Royals.

Meyer did pitch in 2 innings of relief work a few years ago for the Braves, so this is not his major league debut.

What are your thoughts on how he'll do?  His AAA numbers have been good the past few starts, his walk rate is dropping and his k rate is maintaining.

His last 4 AAA starts(IP/H/ER/BB/K):

Jul 20 SLC  6.0 1 1 3 11
Jul 26 @MEM  7.1 5 0 1 2
Jul 31 @NAS  7.0 6 1 1 7
Aug 07 OKL  5.2 3 2 1 7

What is the community prediction for tonight?  My prediction is:

 5IP 6H 3ER 2BB 6K  and a no decision.

another 07 comeback
Wow, he beat the odds just getting to this point. No it wont get the headlines like Hamilton w/ his drug issues, Lester's cancer, Ankiel's headcase, control problems, or CUst's 10 yrs of minor league baseball.
But its another story to add to some 07 comebacks

OAKLAND -- Dan Meyer rolled into the operating room thinking he was having a simple exploratory surgery.

When he woke up, the doctor had some startling news for him.

"Your career might be over," Meyer was told.

Today, as Meyer takes the ball to start his first game in an A's uniform, the left-handed pitcher can take satisfaction in beating the odds. After that surgery 13 months ago, he was told he had just a 30 percent chance of pitching again.

"It was tough, but you've got to keep strong," Meyer said Thursday before the A's 8-5 win in 10 innings against the Chicago White Sox. "Doubt creeps in there, but you've really got to push it out of your mind. You can't let it overcome you. It really does make a man out of you."
