Matt Macri - Rockies for Ramon Ortiz - Twins

Good trade for the Twins. This Macri guy had a down season last year but has rebounded nicely. He may end up being a utility guy but there are people out there that consider him to have a Jeff Kent upside.

I'd say that is doubtful at this point, but I'm still liking the trade as a Twins fan. Of course I would've been happy getting rid of Ortiz for a bullpen catcher.

Getting ANYTHING for Ortiz is pretty nice and it looks like macri can play a litte but, one thing, Jeff Kent?? When he was his age he hit 21 Homers and drave in 81 and hit .270 while playing 2b for the METS and regardless of what some people think, has HOF crdentials so I gotta call BS there. Some people May think Macri has Kent upside but, they are CRAZY if they do :) He IS 6-9 in three games at AAA so maybe he's a late bloomer but he didn't hit at AA until he second try at 24.

Yeah the Jeff Kent comment is from some people on this site. I'd say it is far fetched for sure. BUT I mentioned it because it shows a higher upside than a Utility guy. Hopefully he can be somewhere in between.

But, even if he turns out to be a useful utility guy that would be okay.

Nothing to do with you but, I get a little annoyed with the concept of comps for a players "upside" on here sometimes. Just when it appears to not really meen anything like the guy who argued that Chris young of the D'backs upside was Willie Mays. Sure, maybe in freakin' OUTER SPACE! I just think there is a little more certainty as to how a player will turn out although thibngs happen and, players will surprise.

Sometimes you can go out on a limb with these things though and Macri aint never gonna be a Jeff Kent and Chris Young sure nuff aint no Willie Mays :)

for a 6 pack of Coors Golden would have been a steal, so the fact that they might have gotten something in return is just gravy.

Macri will be a big league regular for a couple of seasons and then get overpaid by some other team. See: Terry Ryan dumping useless parts on unsuspecting parties ex: Roberto Kelly for Joe Mays and Buck Buchanon for Jason Bartlett
