Sox & Yanks

Is it me. Or is everyone else tired of hearing about the yanks and sox?

My god, how many Joba comments can we make. We get point Yanks fans. I'm so sick of all the websites constantly talking about them. I switched from BA to here becuase i thought i could avoid the same old questions. Boy was i wrong.

Personally, i don't understand how you can root for a team whose team salary is over 150 million. They don't win ball games they buy them. I really love how the whole schilling and clemens thing has turned out.

Please stop posting about the yanks and sox. Lets try to be original around here. For a while we were and thanks to Joba we aren't. Instead we act like fools and post every single pitch he throws.

I'm not even a Yankees fan and I will post about
Joba a lot because he is one of the top prospects in baseball.  Sorry, that is what we talk about.  Just because he happens to play for the Yankees isn't going to keep me from talking about him.

I'm a Yankee fan, but I certainly don't mind hearing/talking about prospects from other teams.  Joba happens to be on the Yanks - that shouldn't stop people from talking about him.  If you pile on the fact that the Yankees aren't a team with rookies playing big roles, then Joba becomes that much more interesting.

well your going to hear a lot more now
Since the Sox are beginning to free fall and the Yankees on a great pace.  Shades of the late 70's.

yep
The Yankees have been on a tear beating up on all those bad teams. This week they played their first opponent with a .500 or better record for the first time since before the All-Star Break. The rest of their schedule isn't nearly so rosy.
God rested one day out of 7, Felix rests 4 out of 5.

How about you take a closer look
They have played 2 series against Tampa Bay.  They suck, not gunna argue about that.  Boston has played them 1 series.

They Yanks went 5-2 against the Jays.  The Jays split a series against the Red Sox.

Both teams won their series against the White Sox.

The Yanks took 6 of 7 from the Royals.  The same team that won 2 of 3 in Boston.

Both teams also have 2 losses against Baltimore.

So you say they had an easy schedule, yet most of the teams on the schedule have been the same.  You cant make an excuse saying the Yankees had easy games against the Royals, when the Royals have won series vs Boston, Minn., and Detroit.  The Blue Jays were also 57-56 when they played the Yankees, I think thats over .500?  They also are looking pretty good against that over .500 team they are playing now.

Btw, I do not think the Yanks will catch Boston.

Yankees explode against Indians
7 run inning, can't believe that Cano is up to .313 now after doing so poorly until after the break.

Dude
THat post made no sense.  You argue his claim that the Yankees' schedule was easy by claiming that the Sox had played a couple of these guys during the same stretch.  How does this make any sense at all?  You played the soft part of your schedule, anyone can see this (and everyone has).  Stop being a contrarian.

Yes, i am disagreeing with everyone
by posting facts.  The Yankees and the Sox have played almost the same exact teams since the break.  Sure it was a pretty easy schedule, but so was Boston's.  You cannot say they have made up this ground based on the schedule when Boston played Toronto, KC, Chicago, Cleveland, Tampa, and Balitmore after the break before they got a couple hard series against Seatle and LA.

You ask how does this make sense are.  Are you serius?  Every team the Yankees played after the break, the Red Sox have also played.  Does that make enough sense for you?  Please stfu.

Umm
You're missing the point.  His original claim was that the Yankees have had an easy schedule.  Then you said 'NO WAY THEY DID NOT HAVE AN EASY SCHEDULE"... and then proceeded to move onto another point, mainly that the Sox have played many of the same guys...

So you refuted that the Yanks have had an easy schedule by... looking at someone else's?

by Jgaztambide on Aug 12, 2007 2:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually the first post
was about the Yankees catching the Sox.  So I just assumed that when he said the Yankees had an easy schedule, he was saying that was the reason the made up the ground.  And it is not because the Sox werent playing the best guys teams either.

heh
You're counting Bravesin07 as the first post, whereas I ignore anything he posts.  Your response was to Crimson, so that's where I assumed our argument lay

Blue Jays
Yes, the jays were the first team over .500 the Yankees played since before the ASB and they played them this past week as I said, what's your point there?
The Sox were at Seattle and LA (two very good teams) and at Cleveland (another very good team). The best team the Yankees played during that same stretch is the BLUE JAYS...

Before the last 2 series
against Seatle and LA, the Red Sox schedule had been just as easy as the Yankees for that month after the break.

Plus...
People are just going to talk about whatever is on their mind.  The Yankees and Redsox have 2 of the biggest fanbases in the game, and 2 of the better minor league systems in the game.  Even if they didn't, I doub't they would be too worried about one person complaining that the best pitching prospect in baseball gets talked about too much on a minor league site.
A Steve Trachsel pitched game moves faster than Pirate management moves their prospects.

I have tickets
to the August 28th game.  When I got them, the Sox were up like 13 or something.  The tickets were basically face value when I got them on Stubhub.

I'm a Red Sox fan, but even I gotta give some love for Joba.  This is no worse than the hype about Lincecum when he got called up, and the fact that the new hot topic is on the Yankees is just a coincedence, albeit one that boosts Joba's value even further.

It is overblown, yes
But those are the two most popular teams in baseball. It's just unavoidable.

It's silly to criticize any fan's decision to support their team. Not many kids growing up in New Jersey are going to adopt the Diamondbacks instead of the Yankees, their superior farm system not withstanding!

I'll never forget the time I was in Cooperstown wearing my Yankees cap in 1990, the year they finished dead last in the AL, and some kid came up to me and called me a front-runner.  That, my friends, is why I never listen to Yankee haters.

Go cry in your beer
Worry about your own posts and don't try to police what other people want to talk about.

Maybe spend some time driving the speed limit in the left lane to stop those damn speeders.

Better yet...a job as a security guard might keep you busy and satisfied.

Ironic
Is it me or does anyone else find it ironic that in order to complain about all the posts about the Red Sox-Yankees, he creates a post about the Red Sox-Yankees.

Sox are NOT free-falling (though last night sucked) the Yanks (due to a unique scheduling quirk where they play every crap team except the 1966 Mets) are charging hard.

I won't get married until the Red Sox win the World Series. AGAIN!!

It has nothing to do
with them actually being a good team or finally living up to expectations (re: their pythagorean expected W/L)...

Unbelievable
You must be new, this is absolutely not out of the ordinary. We don't make running jokes about Lincecum winning 11 Tim Lincecums for nothing. Sometimes prospects are hot, and this one HAPPENS to be Joba. Get a grip. Or go back to BA, whatever. Don't indict the league like we're some kind of Mark McGwire And you're Congress. Who're you to say "Shame" to us?

The best part of this post is the vast majority of posts aren't even about the sox/yanks. They're always about prospects. Those two teams happen to have good systems. We'll talk a ton about TB/ARI, but the SECOND that NY/BOS gets some love, all hell breaks loose?

by mroak89 on Aug 11, 2007 8:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah....
It's impossible to root for teams that's willing to throw every dime in their coffer and commited to play as competitive as they possibly can, so let's root for teams owned by those who hoard revenue sharing money for themself and continue to cry poverty while don't give a damn about drafting properly or developing a farm or make simply dumb trades over and over again.

If you havn't noticed, (which i guess you havn't since you havn't been around here long enough) this board really didn't talk much about Joba until quiet recently, early season it was pretty much all Lincecum.

Yeah
When Joba Chamberlain has dominated the minors and is now up dominating in his first taste of big-league action, it will be hard to get people to focus on a guy like Brandon Morrow. Every dog has his day, and Joba deserves a long and sunny one. Hate to break it to you, the biggest market will receive the most coverage, and as such, the most notoriety.
Morrow is the Sea Diamond.

Agreed
It's not just that Joba gets recognition. People posting that are jokes. It's the "JOBA/HUGHES/KENNEDY VS BOWDEN/BUCHHOLZ/XXXX WHO DO YOU TAKE" constant type crap. Every day we have to compare YANX/SOX. Same thing with TABATA OR F-MART, as if other teams don't have exceptional prospects.

Yeah, yeah, they have lots of fans. I get that. The myopia is still annoying.
