Anothe Brewcrew Masher?

Joe Dillon? Never even heard of this guy till I read about Weeks replacement on the major league team. If you glance at his numbers for this year, they are pretty impressive! This year alone he was batting .317/20hr/28doubles/69runs/73rbi/6sb in only 319 ab's. Plus his k/bb ratio is impressive at 32/49! His only knock appears to be age as he's 32. However, he was mashing before some kind of injury (?) knocked him out for all of 2006. This guy if given the playing time (and I'm assuming it will be mostly at 2b) could provide some value to the team and maybe some fantasy owners.

Does anyone know anything about the guy?  Was he ever a legit prospect?  What kind of injury did he have in 2006?

He turns 32
tom.

Not much of a prospect, he made it to the majors in 2005 with the Marlins.

Given?
Is it a given that guys like that can't succeed?

no
it's definitely not a given. even if you don't believe in jack cust yet, marcus thames is pretty much this exact player (except an outfielder), and he's proven himself to be a good major-league regular.

2006
He was in Japan.  I think if he ever got regular playing time, he could put together a 2-3 year run of average or above-average production; he could be a Tony Phillips type, maybe, spelling guys in left and right field, third, second and first.

I do know that he kicks absolute ass for my Diamond Mind teams.

DMB- sim animal.
281/373/484.  EX/EX power.  Guy has a helluva sim this year for someone who played in Japan last year.

re:
But for me that's part of the flaw of the projection disk league. I was in a projection disk league back in 2002 where Ben Broussard hit 58 home runs. He ended up only hitting 4 in real-life that season. After that I can't really get excited about projection because of it's wide disconnect between real baseball. I stick with leagues using the standard disk that have usage restrictions.

Quadruple-A Label
I don't know if he's gotten enough major league opportunities to give him the Quadruple-A label just yet.  Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he had back problems thoughout his career that have significantly stalled his development?

he was up with the Marlins a few years back
didn't display any power (2b and hr) in about 40 at bats more of a gap to gap hitter at best saw him in Albuquerque as well... the ball flies out of these parks in the PCL nice bench guy I guess... maybe lightning in a bottle, but certainly not "another brew crew masher"

40 at bats is nothing
It was actually 36 at bats in which he had 6 hits a double and a homer. And in that season it looks like he started 3 games, the rest of the at bats came as a pinch hitter. I have no idea if this guy is going to be anything but judging him on 36 at bats is stupid.

In his minor league career here is what he has averaged per 550 at bats:
27 HR
37 2B
11 SB
103 K
73 BB

Not too shabby he has a MILB career .909 OPS. I think guys like this should be given more chances. He has the single season HR record at Texas Tech so obviously he has power. I dont expect him to be a star or even a regular but I think over a couple weeks he could be a solid contributor and I wouldnt be suprised if he was a solid bench player going forward

judge
I didn't judge him based on his 36 major league at bats.. but from watching them, and seeing him in Albuquerque, he isn't going to be the next masher but only time will tell... hell I hope he blows up Bo Hart or Shane Spencer style
