Johnny Cueto vs Brett Anderson

Cueto is a RH, Anderson is a LH

Who would you rate higher on
stuff

who gets to MLB first (sorry if this is a bad question, I can't remember Anderson's age)

who has a greater chance of being a #1 or 2 Starter(or do either even look like that is a possibility)

better makeup(if anyone has seen or heard about this)

Any other thoughts on the two...

Also I saw Angel Villalona is playing again.  Has anyone seen him and what are your thoughts, expectations for him?

Thanks,

Well...
In the email I sent you a bit ago, Cueto was one of the two guys I was talking about as being close to the majors. I don't know much about Anderson though so I can't really comment on him.

As for Villona... just seems so far from the majors to be worth drafting right now in our league. Besides, you already have Wright and Headley for 3B (if Villona sticks there).

Not sure about Anderson
But Johnny Cueto is going to be good. He has good stuff (mid 90s fastball, good offspeed stuff), good control and the only thing going against him is his size (5'11).

I doubt
Cueto will be ever be better than a MLB #4 though.

Better Than That
Why do you say that?  I love his low HR allowed totals and his K:BB ratios have been excellent at every level.  I think he can follow in Ian Snell's footsteps very nicely.  Mahalo

I'm just not a fan
I think the Reds have better SP prospects than Cueto. If Cuteo does become better than a #4, I'll be happy, but I'm not betting on it.

Fair Enough
I'm just curious who you like better than Cueto in their system though.  Mahalo

Anderson
He is a finesse HS lefty that isn't as far away from the bigs as you might think.  He was considered very polished out of HS and (I think) BaseballAmerica picked him as the most likely HS drafty to reach the majors first.  That said, Cueto is certainly closer to the bigs since he is in AAA.  I don't know a ton about Cueto except that he has a pretty good FB - which would probably make his ceiling higher.  So to answer your questions, in my opinion:

Who has the better stuff?  Cueto

Who is more likely to reach their ceiling (I added this one)?  Anderson

Who gets to the MLB first?  Cueto

Who has a better chance of being a 1/2?  Probably neither..If I had to choose I'd take Cueto

Who has better makeup?  No clue

FYI, FWIW
Cueto was just recently promoted to AA.  He made one start in AAA about a month ago, maybe a bit more, but that was to fill in for an injury.

Thanks
I remember that he recently got promoted and glanced at his stats - I assumed since he had one start in AAA that was where he was promoted too...But thanks for the correction.

Haha, this is really funny you posted this
Assuming you were looking at Anderson as well as Cueto with the 8th pick in the 2nd round, because I had been set to take Brett Anderson since my 1st round pick, and changed at the last second.  But that would have been funny if I took Anderson right after you took Cueto.  I didn't even notice this post until after my pick anyway though.

But I really was planning on taking Anderson from the time of my 1st round pick until yesterday.

This is Colorado by the way, I don't think you know my name on here.

How am I...
supposed to get better knowledge when it comes to drafting that you all if you all are reading everything I am. I like this site, they do all the homework for me and even make ranked lists. Can't beat that. Now I have you two hear, Rich, Sean, and Ty (Dodgers, Brewers, and Orioles) are occasional readers here, and so is our Arizona GM.

Damnit, I have been reading this site since it opened, you all find your own! lol

(Cubbies here, by the way.)
