Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Jeff Allison

Rotoworld reported that "Jeff Allison is working out at the Marlins' spring training facility in Jupiter, Fla.

''He's done everything that was required and asked of him,'' general manager Larry Beinfest said of Allison, who overcame a heroin addiction and last October was charged with the felony possession of a stolen vehicle while with Single-A Greensboro (N.C.). The Marlins don't have a timetable for Allison's return to the minors"...

Does Allison have a chance at making it to the bigs at this point... and does he still posses the same sort of potential he once did?  Keep in mind that because he was drafted out of H.S he is not really all that old for a prospect in the low minors...

Hamilton part 2?
Probably too early for that.  I'm just hoping the young man gets his life together.
Phillip Hughes turning into Barbaro? Odds are that Hughes will probably be put to sleep within the next year. --Bravesin08

Don't forget
that Hamilton even had about 3 false starts and relapses before he got back to the minors...

As long as he has the stuff
He has a shot to make it to the majors.  Josh Hamilton had several setbacks and no one ever thought he'd see the majors, but through all of his struggles he still remained a great ballplayer.

True
but Hamilton was an absolute stud, this year being a perfect example.

Allison was a great prospect, but he wasn't on Hamilton's level, and it's hard to imagine that he could develop properly as a pitcher after not competing for years.

Hamilton was helped by the fact he was a tremendous athlete and just a natural ball player.  It was more like riding a bicycle once he kicked the drugs.
