Tyler Robertson

Does anyone know anything about this kid?  Scouting report or anything?

He's been quietly having a great season.

Tall lefty, high upside
I think he slipped to the third round last year because of signability. I heard he is just touching 90 now, but he's only 19 in the Midwest League, so there's room to grow. Haven't heard how his breaking stuff is coming along.

He still has room to put some weight on his frame, and life on his fastball should follow. An intriguing prospect who won't be rushed because the Twins can afford to move him along a level at a time with their pitching depth.

Robertson
I hear his delivery is pretty funky.

I think twins like this kid, could see FM late in year possibly as a 19 year old...upper A ball.  Not bad.

big kid, filling out, developing velocity.

After Slowey, manship and Swarzak I might rank him next highest on twins pitching prospect depth for starters.

His ranking
I would say he's a top seven starter prospect for the Twins, but I rank a few others more highly. Here is how I rank Twins starting prospects
  1. Perkins
  2. Slowey
  3. Duensing
  4. Swarzak
  5. Manship
  6. Sosa
  7. Robertson
  8. Burnett
  9. Rainville
  10. Mullins
Honorable mention: Pino, Ward, Allen, McCardell, Waldrop

No Blackburn?
Just curious...was Nick Blackburn intentionally left off the list?  And if not, where do you see him fitting in?

Blackburn
Yeah, he should be honorable mention ahead of Waldrop, I suppose. I guess I was factoring in age when I made the list.

Funky to say the least...

He is one of the few lefties I've ever seen who "short-arms" the ball.

Also, no Brian Kirwam in the top 15?

Kirwan
I'm not all that high on Kirwan. He could still fill out and add velocity, but when I saw him, he was barely touching 90 on the gun.

Ugh
two batters, seven balls, three strikes, four pickoff throws.

Reminds me of Pettiet until the throw
nice follow through until the throw which is a little scary.  Could have arm trouble down the road.

Arm trouble
That was my thought. He looks like a thrower rather than a pitcher in that video, which was apparently taken in a GCL game. I hope he gets his mechanics straightened out, because he obviously has the body and the arm strength to be a big time pitcher.
