Lowrie or B. Barton?

Having a tough time deciding who to pick up.  Need help.

Star-divide

I like the fact that Lowrie is a MI and is starting to really come alive with his bat.  Barton on the other hand has been as consistent as anyone, but could be just another OF prospect.

Who would you guys rather have?

lowrie for sure
in my book. barton ...i don't get. an older get who hits for little power and seems maxed out where is. definitely will be a major leaguer, but likely a mediocre one.

lowrie, on the other hand, is really under the radar.

I'm with you
on Jed flying under the radar.  He's got better peripherals than Barton in the same league.

1BB for every K, while Barton seems to be K'ing a TON.

Barton's plate discipline has actually improved
of late:

Hello odo31,

April:  9 BB/20 K in 66 ABs
May:  6 BB/23 K in 109 ABs
June: 13 BB/20 K in 93 ABs
July:  9 BB/19 K in 62 ABs

Outside of May, and to a lesser extent, April, Barton's plate discipline has improved a bit since then.

With that said, I agree that Lowrie is likely more valuable because he is a MI, and he's younger (23.)  Barton has some nice tools, some even suggesting he could be a 5-tool player, but his age is a bit of a detriment (25,) though he only starting playing prof. baseball at age 23.

Just my 2 cents.  :-)

Take care and have a great day!
