Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

Conor Jackson

Despite playing in a very good home ballpark for hitters, all of the young D'Backs have struggled -particularly Jackson, Quentin, and Drew. I expected Jackson to build on last season and hit .300 or better this year.

Do you think Jackson is just experiencing normal growing pains and will eventually turn it around, or was he overrated after playing in favorable hitters' parks in the minor leagues?

I think the biggest problem right now is the D-Backs are struggling to find playing time for everyone. Now that Reynolds is in the mix they have three full-time players competing for two sports (Reynolds, Tracy and CoJack.) To make room for Reynolds they have given Tracy some time a 1B.

Add in regular back up time for Tony Clark and there are not nearly enough AB's for three young players who should all be playing on a regular basis.

I also think they need to establish a more regular lineup. One day Cojack is hitting in the two hole, the next day cleanup.

I still like CoJack alot. I think the bat is special and he has the potential to be a 300/400/500 guy in his prime for 3-5 seasons.
