rockies retro
here's what john had to say:
1# Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Grade A- (I go back and forth between A- and B+ on this one)
2# Chris Iannetta, C, B+ (I really love him)
3# Ian Stewart, 3B, B+ (Still very young, have faith)
4# Franklin Morales, LHP, B+
5# Ubaldo Jimenez, RHP, B
6# Greg Reynolds, RHP, B
7# Dexter Fowler, OF, B (tools guy making progress developing skills)
8# Shane Lindsay, RHP, B
9# Jonathan Herrera, SS, B
10# Seth Smith, OF, B (I think I like this guy more than anyone else)
weird system. some graduates, some fallers, and a few risers.

risers/fallers
fallers: Jiminez and, to my mind, Dexter Fowler. I think others are higher on Fowler than I am. To me, not yng for the league, hits for no power, and this is in the Cal Lg.
risers: Brandon Hynick. wasn't even on John's top 20, nor listed by BA or BP. But an 87/18 K/BB ratio and a 2.48 ERA in the Cal Lg is pretty sparkling. Very impressive guy, though could K more guys, definitely. Hardball Times had an article pre-season listing him as a top sleeper, and they seem to be right on. Assume he'll be in AA shortly?
next year's top 3: I really have no idea: Morales, for sure. maybe Reynolds, but the shoulder injury sure has kept him out of a lot of action for a supposedly minor injury. I like Hynick better than him, at this point. Is Hynick good enough to get into their top 3?

Hector Gomez
289/327/454 as a 19 year old SS in low-A; not eye-popping, but promising, especially combined with his athleticism, etc.
I see him as a B-/B.
