Dustin McGowan

This is now Dustin McGowan's third very good start in a row.

Is this progress sustainable, or has he simply run into some good luck?

Does anybody know if he's made any mechanical changes recently, or is this simply a case of him settling down once Toronto stopped changing his roles?

He is a former #1 Blue Jay prospect, but has been downgraded the past two years due to ineffectiveness.

McGowan has pitched well
He's pitched much better than his number indicate. He has been excellent in his last 4 starts, which have all been quality starts. The key for him has been limiting the walks and developing some poise. In his last 4 starts he has a 3.25ERA 27.2IP 23H 6BB 19K 1.05WHIP.

Even in his bad starts, he has been dominant during stretches of the game, but would fall apart in one critical inning where he would walk people and fall behind in counts. For example in his Phillies start, he no-hits them through 4IP and then falls apart in the 5th. He seems to have gotten over that self-inflicted big inning.

I think that he finally has the confidence that he belongs in the big leagues and can get the job done.

He's having the semi breakout great stuff young guys have a lot of the time.  Sometimes they keep improving, sometimes not so much.  As a Jays fan, I hope it's the latter, because he has looked really really good.  Easiest 98MPH fastball you'll see anywhere in baseball right now.
Rios is the next Juan Gonzales, thats right, I said it.
