Erbe has huge rebound

As an O's fan, it pains me to see his struggles this year. I was fully expecting him to be a top 5 pitching prospect after this season, but things haven't looked so good.

But tonight:

8 IP
4 H
1 ER
1 BB
11 K

I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come, not just a blip between bad starts like his game against the Jays.

I Mentioned This in the Daily Thread
But I have a feeling that he has been working on things.  Someone with his stuff shouldn't put up that poor of numbers unless he is hiding an either injury, tipping his pitches, or throwing (for example) exclusively curveballs.

And, I don't know of any MLB team (even the Orioles) that would have a guy like him throw 8 innings in a minor league game when he's still so young if he were actually hurt.

My guess is that in this start and his exhibition start he was allowed to use the full array of pitches but in other starts he has not - but I would just be guessing.  Alternatively, if he were tipping his pitches, maybe he has fixed it.  Anyways, I'm still a huge Erbe fan and I expect more starts like this in the future.

Phillip Hughes turning into Barbaro? Odds are that Hughes will probably be put to sleep within the next year. --Bravesin08

Dangit
I never proof these posts...obviously the word "either" should be deleted.

great effort
he really needs to string together some more starts like this just to keep his confidence high.

Erbe
Coming into this season I thought he was going to turn into a top 5, if not the top pitching prospect in the game by seasons end. However his recent streak of bad outings made everyone worry and when people did their top 15, he wasn't named once. If these are the results from him actually using his stuff, not hurt, and not working on anything then I think he could be a top 5 guy. Personally, I like him better than Kershaw but I also like Inman better than Kershaw so that doesn't say too much. I'd say say my top 10 would look like this,

   1. Buchholz
   2. McGee
   3. Price
   4. Hochevar
   5. Erbe
   6. Porcello
   7. Kershaw
   8. Hurley
   9. Guerra
  10. Davis

Wait...
You say you like Inman better than Kershaw, yet no sign of Inman in your Top 10?

hahah
my bad it was a quick thing and didn't think it over too much, its nothing official obviously. I'm sure i forgot more than Inman;
   1. Buchholz
   2. McGee
   3. Price
   4. Hochevar
   5. Inman
   6. Erbe
   7. Porcello
   8. Kershaw
   9. Hurley
  10. Guerra

Price is probably the guy who pushes Erbe out of the top 5 IMO.

Haha
I LOVE putting Price rigt in there...kudos! 2 q's?
  1. Is McGee really THAT good?? Better than Price? Just asking because that makes him really good?
  2. Hughes, Millers, Bailey, Gallardo are all old vets now huh? lol. Cant we wait until a guy PROVES hes a big leaguer before we take him off the prospect lists?
