What do people think of DiceK now?

He kinda had a rough beginning, but just saw a post that summarized his June, and wondered what people thought of him after June. Which month represents the long term DiceK?

Star-divide

Daisuke Matsuzaka, SP BOS
News: RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka will finish June with just two wins, but the month was easily his most impressive. Matsuzaka forged a 2-2 record that belied his 1.59 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 34 innings. Opponents hit just .179 against the 26-year-old rookie in June.
Analysis: Matsuzaka probably should have five wins in June because he has been pitching so well, but he wasn't getting great run support. Despite a lack of victories recently, Dice-K remains a must-start Fantasy pitcher in all leagues at this time. His next scheduled start is for Tuesday against the Devil Rays. He is also on track to be a two-start pitcher during Fantasy Week 14 (July 2-8).

Daisuke
I live in Boston (not a Red Sox fan though) and have seen Daisuke pitch a lot. He is one of the most interesting pitchers I've ever seen. His overall array of pitches, arm angles etc are really incredible. As I'm sure most people have noticed, he tends to have an off inning that alters his whole stat line in games. He randomly loses control of his pitches, alks a few people and then gives up a hit.

I really do thnk that he is one of the best pitchers I've ever seen. A mix of David Cone and Pedro Martinez perhaps.

As far as which statline represents him best, I'm not sure any of those are the best representation, but overall, I expect him to keep up the high K rate while posting an Elite ERA and above average Whip.

H see him as around an average between April and June. I don't think he'll be a true ace but a number two that posts a 3.50 ERA seems reasonable to me. Good starter but not a great starter. And I am still waiting for the gyroball. haha

Yeah, I know the poll wasn't the best...
I think something like April with a lower ERA. But I didn't want to just throw out random projections, felt like a month-by-month might be more fun.

er...
if you average his #s between April and June, those are #1/ace numbers, big-time. particularly considering that Fenway is the best park for hitters in all of baseball (including Coors) so far this season.

for myself, i agree he's between April and June. I see him pitch pretty regularly and the ERA seemed a bit flukily high at the start of the season -- his strand rate was inordinately low. That hid how good he's been. Basically his peripherals have stayed more or less steady throughout, except he had two (or was it three?) shaky starts in May, and in June he's been pitching mostly against NL teams and away from Fenway, so that's exaggerated how good he's been.

He'll be an ace...
in time.

He's got great periphs for a guy who makes his home in the AL East's best hitter park. Once he gets over that one inning fuck up, he'll be fine.

+1
I think he'll have a low to mid 3 ERA, a good amount of K's, solid 1.2 or below WHIP.  He's making good adjustments.  He's got the ace potential.

I am not sure any are right
I think this guy is a real good pitcher but he is not David Cone or Pedro Martinez.  June has been his best month but he did not face top notch lineups.  At the end of May, Cleveland beat the crap out of him and Texas did serious damage as well.  remeber, this guy is pitching in the same park with the same lineup as Beckett.  I'll take Beckett's performance.

Lineup
They may be the same names on the lineup, but a very different team is showing up behind Matsuzaka from the team that is showing up behind Beckett.
God rested one day out of 7, Felix rests 4 out of 5.

different team
I will take your word for it.  I have only seen him pitch twice on the tube and was just looking at the stats.  Whatever team he had behind him when I watched Cleveland light him up less than a month ago would not have made any difference.
