fantasy question. sorry...

sorry guys, but i need fantasy advice. usually i am the one giving the advice, but in this case i dont know as much about the player id be trading for as most people on here do. so here is the trade:

I would receive joba chamberlain
I would give my 2008 1st round minors pick. i dont know what the talent pool will look like for 2008 because I dont follow college players much, and I also need to know what joba's upside is, and what kind of career you guys think hell have. does he throw hard or is he a finesse pitcher? any advice would be greatly appreciated

unless its the first pick,,,
Which would be, barring injury, Pedro Alvarez, do it. Joba has impressed and you can't always predict how players are going to adjust. Well Joba has adjusted well as you can see by his numbers so far and tonight.

Joba is also pitching against one of the worst
Hitting teams in the entire minors.  Buchholz blew them away big time also.

Eh,
Unless you are picking towards the end of the round (in which case you should do), it seems that this move would just be treading water.

disagree...
...but only because Joba will be closer to the majors than anyone you pick in the draft

do it!

interesting
there are a lot of unknowns here which makes it a tough decision.  Joba is closer to the majors and pitches for a fantasy friendly organization.  That makes him a less risky pick and he has a lot of talent (mid nineties fastball and an above average slider, curveball and changeup) so his upside is comparable at least to whoever will be in the draft next year.  I would make the deal and hope for a good season next year so you only lose a late pick.
