Headin EAST!!

hey guys, I'm gonna be headin back east next week and will be in Philly for a week or so where I will try to attend a few Reading Phillies games.  Altoona and Binghamton are gonna be in town.  Been very busy this year and haven't been able to keep up too much on sleepers etc.  I'll be taking my camera so if anyone has any players to watch or whatever, outside of the big named guys, any input would be appreciated.  Hopefully none of the guys get promoted before I get out there, I missed out on Upton in the Cal and a few others by a few days when they got bumped to AA.

i wouldn't bother making the trip to reading
there really aren't any prospects playing there.  there are only two starting pitchers that have a chance of becoming 4th starters in matt maloney and kyle kendrick, and there is only one pseudoprospect in michael costanzo.  he's got good power, but he can't hit better than .250, and that's really going to limit any value he has.

reading
does pretty much blow, but i wanna take in some games because i haven't had much of a chance to see many games out here, and the most local team to me, Rancho Cucamonga doesn't have much blue chip talent either. . .

i would be curious
Well there are the obvious guys like Neil Walker, Andrew McCutcheon and F-Mart.  If you get a chance to see Marcos Carvajal throw i would be curious as to how he looks.  He has been mediocre as a starter in Binghamton but is still only 22.  Jose Coronado plays fantastic defense at shortstop for Binghamton so that should be fun to watch.  Romulo Sanchez is a 22 year old reliever for Altoona who supposedly throws pretty hard.  He should reach the majors at some point.  And kid Garciaparra is currently playing short for Reading I wonder if he is even close to being a prospect.

Trenton
... is even closer than Reading, I believe.  The Yanks' AA team plays there.  Ian Kennedy and I believe Kevin Whelan are there.  Dont know if they're in town that week.

Harrisburg (Nats) is another possibility if you dont mind traveling a little farther.

2nd-ed
Trenton is definitely closer to Philly and in terms of prospects, I think it's more deep in terms of prospects. Lemme just check to see if they're home.

oooh. The thunder are here!
The Trenton Thunder will be at home all week and this coming weekend.

Try to see Joba Chamberlain pitch if you can
The Thunder have a pretty stacked rotation, so you'll be seeing good pitching any day you go.  Just don't expect much offense from the Trenton lineup.

kinda
the opposite of the yanks eh (all pitching, no hitting). . .I saw Kennedy pitch at USC and also when he was in High School with Ian Stewart and was pretty impressed although his final college season wasn't all that special, actually saw him pitch against UW and some kid named Tim Lincecum.

(i tried to post some pics, but i guess we cant anymore??)
