Andy LaRoche

Does anyone know what's going on with Andy LaRoche? Is he still bothered by the shoulder problem? He continues to show very good plate discipline, but his other numbers aren't what I was expecting from him given the year he had last year. Thanks.

LaRoche couldn't have hit any better last year

Adam did hit very well last year. Andy will eventually hit. I think he just needs time to adjust.

As for as the LaRoche family disappointing, do you realize how rare it is for someone to reach the MLB let alone two players from the same family?

Adam LaRoche is an occasionally great offensive player who is absolutely putrid for vast stretches of the season. He got a reputation as a second-half performer because he had torrid second halves in 2004 and 2006; however, in the first half of 2004, 2006 and 2007, and the entire year of 2005, he was an absolutely terrible offensive first baseman.

Do you think the Pirates are happy with his .679 OPS?

no, but considering Laroche is in his prime and has some bad months they can't be too mad. I'd wait a while to dismiss him completely since at least he's shown stretches of great performance.

Are the braves happy with Thorman's .648 OPS and Mike Gonzalez' surgery bill?
